And when they use the dry ice, it's a fairly safe bet that it's being used to hide the footwork.

Even the fancy floor lighting doe sthat.  I don't want to know how clever the lighting team is.  I want to see the footwork.

Yes, that's very true @Obelixx. I keep meaning to go back to utube and watch some of the older dances from the early series. I can just about put up with the props (as long as there's not too much faffing about), but the flashing lights are too much.

Absolutely agree GWRS ... it's a Saturday evening  family tv show in the tradition of The Generation Game et al  ... not a televised dancing competition.  :)

For me the lit floor is an impediment, not a help.  If they want the public vote to be based on the dancing they need to give us a fair view of it from head to foot.  If they want a mindless, haphazard, unskilled Generation Game programme let them make a different format.

There was a pro dance a week or so back that started with so much "light flashing", l honestly couldn't see a thing! I suffer from migraine and it reminded me of the beginning of an attack!
I know I'm classed as a grumpy old moo these days, but my younger friends and relations agree that it can be overwhelming. I know there are people who can have epileptic seizures caused by flashing lights, and not wishing to appear flippant, it must be very frustrating for them not being able to watch.
I see there is another story about Vic Hope implying that she was voted out as Shirley Ballas disliked her. I was struck by her interview on ITT where she was candid about the fact it was a career stepping stone for her.

It is for all the contestants and the professionals too.

We get warnings on the news about flash photography which can be a problem for epileptics and people with other health problems affected by flashing lights so maybe SCD should bear this in mind too so as not to cut off a whole section of the public.

I wondered about that Obelixx . I record it and watch it slightly later than the live show so l can fast forward through the annoying bits ( ;) ), l did wonder if they put a warning out, maybe these days they assume everyone is aware.

Well, some interesting dances tonight, they generated some debate on another forum ! Personally, l loved Faye and Giovanni's "couples choice" dance. I thought Katya as the doll was very clever (although the dance as a whole was off time). Kate and Aliaz rhumba l liked, although she does seem to freeze up after doing some nice moves. Best part of Raj and Janette's dance was the muppets in the toy box in front of the bed !
