  • I found Joe's dance to be very careful and not enough street.  That song, in it's original form, has a lot of F*ck YOU attitude and that was missing from Joe's dancing.

I felt sorry for Charles trying to tango to Eleanor Rigby.  He was struggling anyway so to do it to a tune that doesn't suit a tango is really tough.

And I agree with you all about Lauren, it was well undermarked.

Having sat thru hours and years of Hip Hop class I know how difficult it is to get the moves and also that it can be joyous and is not meant to look smooth and polished unless you're doing big numbers in big groups like Diversity.   I thought they hit the right tone.   Much better than Charles and Karen in those suits when they did "Street".

I don't understand Graeme's high marks last week either as I thought the choreography was dull and predictable but he was in time and executed his steps well and I don't think they mark the celebs on choreography.  I do like the way he, and all this year's celebs, are throwing themselves whole heartedly at the Strictly experience.

Given all the fabulous tango music out there I don't understand the Eleanor Rigby muscial massacre either Laura.

Obelixx, My Granddaughter is in a group who do Hip Hop and street dance, they put on a show last week to a packed hall and i got the video, one and a half hours long. I have watched it twice and am afraid it goes over my head. No Doubt I will watch it again as I often play the video of her Ball Room dancing, she is my beloved granddaughter after all.
West Coast Sh@@ or I should say Collegiate dance, Lindi Hop, Jitter Bug, Jive,  Boogi Woogi saw it and did it. I did not recognise whatever it was they did last night. West Coast had a foot sequence six step pause eight step pause and you could mix up the sequence depending on how good you were. Lindi Hop was a Street dance anything went but there was a cadence to it. In our dance halls Jitter Bug was danced in the corners, you just needed space to swing your partner.
All Dance progresses but Dancing to "La Paloma" yes, Eleanor Rigby I do not understand.

Hello.  I agree that Lauren was undermarked and enjoyed Faye and Giovanni's waltz above the rest on the night.  Didn't like the street commercial dance at all but could see the difficulties for it to be in sync.  Faye and Giovanni or Pashley could be in the final or should be.

Interesting dances last night. Often the music makes, or breaks, it for the dances.
I am guessing that the ‘bottom’ two from the points last night will be in the dance-off ‘tonight’.

I think samba is a difficult dance to sell, especially the way it's danced at competitive level as it involves some very strange and unattractive corporal attitudes and gyrations of the hips and, on the whole on Strictly, some dreadful costumes.  Then there's the sympathy factor.  Lauren is a lot more endearing than Ashley, as are Joe and Stacey.

Next week is going to be interesting.

For me, the right couple went, but one couple in the dance off was a bit of a shock.
