Shame Charles went tonight, I hoped he wouldn't be in the dance off. But Ashley is a brilliant dancer. Thought Tess looked better tonight, although wasn't keen on the draping of the top of her dress. She's worn some beautiful clothes in the past. Love Claudia.
I watched Saturday's Strictly this evening as I was meeting OH from the station last night.
OH was waiting for Tess's red dress with the huge puff sleeves to slide down further. I think the pair of them are good hosts for the show.
The one I wanted to go out went out, but I'm glad they got a good score. I was hoping Lauren stayed in, I thought her dance was beautiful and graceful.
I thought Ashley's dance was a bit too complicated and I'm not keen on that song, but usually I think she's great.
I like Stacey and Kevin but l thought that this week there were so many other people dancing with them and around them, Kevin wasn't even there the first bit - Stacey was dancing with someone else, that it was confusing. Also the camera kept switching about and not showing their legs. But the judges thought it was great so maybe it was better in real life.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Charles did a Rumba against dreadful music, had it been more suitable he may have stayed. Karen does not seem to have had her heart in this series, she has appeared shocked each time they were voted in. As usual the camera work was atrocious we do not see the whole picture as the Judges do. What the presenters wear does not float my boat, I never heard anyone comment on Bruces suits. Looking at it as I now do, a light entertainment show, it was nice to watch, the backing dancers are there for a purpose to show off the Celebs and we did see them dance well and in sync with the backing. Overall enjoyable. Frank.
Trouble is, if you watch the backing dancers you're not watching the competitors so they're a distraction for me.
Have been looking for other stuff online and the Express semms to think the show is fixed from the start and Stacey is destined for 3rd place. We'll see.
I do think the music and the costumes have a great deal of influence on the perception of a performance and thus the voting. I really dislike Paso and tango to loud rock style music. So wrong and it's easy enough to put proper Paso rhythms behind all sorts of music. One of our dance teachers favourites is Pirates of the Caribean........ wouldn't be my choice but it works. Phantop of the Opera works for tango, as do some of the Chicago songs.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
I agree with you @Obelixx, I think it is so off putting to have the "wrong music"especially to the Paso and Tangos. It spoils it for me. To be honest i didnt really think Lonely Goatherd was a Charleston!! Loved Charles Rumba.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
GWRS yes thank you Like an old car bits keep falling off but it keeps going.
Dave I was a dancer all my life until my wife passed away, training from an early age, also did boxing so was never bullied about it. Having watched the show from the Peggy Spencer days when it was a real dance competition and seeing it degenerate into what it is now over the last five years I realised throwing cushions at the TV because they did not put the cameras on the feat or posture was wasted effort. If what is shown is what the GBP wants then so be it I give in lay back and think of England. It will return some day as all my Grandchildren go to dance class one of them have done two shows in a concert hall to a full house, you should hear their comments on a Saturday night certainly not flattering, the nine year old has us in stitches, a budding pro if ever I saw one. I am convinced it is now fixed as are all those BGT and Island things that I never watch, has beens trying to come back, not my style. Watching it as very light entertainment saves my blood pressure and actually as a panorama of movement with the backing dancers, exploding scenery, Props and confetti I find repose in fact have trouble staying awake. Frank.
Karen does not seem to have had her heart in this series....
I think I would agree with you , Frank. The only time she REALLY seemed to be thoroughly enjoying herself was when she was dancing La Bamba. But, I may be misremembering.
Helen P3 spot on, karen does enjoy the Latin Modes. I understand why she is unhappy although that life style is not different from my days, I saw couples competing all smiles and loving then at it like Kilkenny cats once off the floor. many of the couples I knew were on second sometimes third marriages. Young and single I kept out of it, Partnered single ladies, Dad's advice, "son no matter what other people say they are each and every one a Lady, treat them as such you will never go wrong" he was right. A Lady at the Hammersmith Palais pleaded with me to partner her, point one she was married, point two I do not think my Sergeant Major would have let me have the time off duty. "Concentrate on yer drill lad never mind the fancy footwork" yes sir. He probably did not like me dancing with his wife at the Garrison Hop each week. Live dangerously "er" sometimes was my motto. Frank.
