I'm afraid Susanna is coming across very badly in clips on ITT. I had high hopes of her but she's got the wrong attitude and I suspect will be out tonight.
Given the difficulty of getting seats for Strictly I'm not surprised the audience is hyper and they do have warm up people to get them going don't they?
I see they haven't done anything to improve camera angles or show-off fancy lighting so we still don't get to see clearly what feet and heads and arms are doing.

Wasn't it Fred Astaire who insisted on full body shots at all times during the filming of the dance routines in his films?
Yes, he also insisted on a static camera rather than the roving cameras that follow the dancers. SCD camera team would do well to take note!
"Over his 35-year film career, Astaire performed in 31 movie musicals. He changed the way dance was filmed, insisting the focus be on the dance steps themselves, using a stationary camera shot—rather than the then-popular technique of frequent cuts and a constantly roving camera. "

Felled by a migraine earlier, and although my vision has cleared, think l will give the flashing lights and hollering a miss and watch it tomorrow! Re: Susannah, she really doesn't seem to be enjoying it, which is a shame.
I find him tiresome too. Saw him on ITT defending his choreography which said was full of basic steps. I'm afraid the daft start and the dafter trousers and her poor performance meant I didn't notice all those basic steps. Just sat there being cross with him.

Finally caught up with last night's show - even fast forwarding through the "filler bits", it took me four goes ! It seemed to go on for ever, and don't get me started on most of the music choices ! To be honest l found most of it a bit underwhelming, but l suppose that is usually the way at the beginning with so many couples involved.
OH and I were both very surprised by the odd music choices but mostly the dreadful choreographies of Oti and Gorka. What were they thinking? I sincerely hope Susanna goes as she clearly cannot dance and is very whiny too and still the wrong attitude.
Loved Kate's tango and Giovanni was very inventive with that Viennese waltz. Blogger Joe was very good and so were quite a few others. We enjoyed Seann's jive but for the wrong reasons. Lovely to have so many good ones this year, all trying hard, and only one duffer.
