  • I thought the dance off was right.   They were the two weakest dancers.  And I suspect that Kate was slightly relieved at being able to give her ribs a rest.

I agree Laura, l think her relief was clear. And let's face it, what a place to go out from. That ballroom is beautiful.

Memories are made of this. I sat watching and remembered the many times I danced there even the names of many of my Partners and who could ever forget Ruby the Rumba Queen, then my Wife Joan, we danced there most years.
I enjoyed the whole panorama having given up trying to concentrate on feet and posture, the Pro's are playing to the judges by putting just enough of the correct steps in.
The judges appear to be trying to make themselves the stars of the show when it should be about the so called Celebs.
I was sorry to see Kate go but it was the correct decision Swanny will go next week, Lauren needs to loosen up a bit to get further.
All in with all the memory of how that Ballroom could lift any dancer into the next level I enjoyed it.

Glad you enjoyed it Frank. I thnk you are right and Graham and Oti will be next to leave. I saw some of the "behind the scenes" on It Takes Two, how they manage in those somewhat cramped conditions backstage is pretty impressive. That building was not designed for 21st century TV shows and all their paraphernalia !

AnniD, But what a building, there are other areas such as the Circus we took the children there a few times before animal rights closed them down. Meeting rooms and we once had a Dinner in a large ornate room many years ago.
My new attitude to watching the show for what it is (Light brain out of gear entertainment) helped me relax, experience told me you cannot learn a dance in a week unless you have put in the hours basic practice.
Having watched as girls and boys having to do quick changes for various dances in Competition sometimes in toilets or behind screens often in dark rooms behind the stage with us all crammed in, it still happens as my Grandchildren do it for their competitions. They may have bespoke dance rooms although the changing areas are not much improved.
I said to my Daughter yesterday I could not imagine anyone dancing badly in that atmosphere, she said "I do not know about that Dave and I managed", they learned late in life when they started going on cruises though I would give them sevens, a bit stiff but I have a laugh as they practice new steps here to show me. A good dad I never criticise.
    Frank.

Bless you Frank, l am sure they appreciate your support.  :) I am glad you are enjoying (if that is not too strong a description! ), Strictly for what it is. I suppose if it wasn't for the programme, many people would never get to see the inside of that ballroom at all.

Enjoyed he show tonight altho the Lindy Hopathon was unedifying - bad camera work.

Loved Stacey's Paso.  Kevin is very clever with his choreography and choice of proper music and she danced it very well.  Other pros please note.  Proper music!   Loved Joe's street dance too - lots of Hip Hop and clever choreography.   Lauren's salsa was the only one I've seen on Strictly that had loads of recognisable armography.   No idea why the judges marked it so low.

Faye's waltz was lovely, Charles' tango was good, Graeme's quickstep was lively.  I didn't like Ashley's samba but that was mostly about that dress.  I loathe the tail feather stylee.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I always associate "Feeling Hot" with Karen Hardy & Mark Ramprakash (when they had to start again after the microphones got tangled up), so l was comparing it with that a lot of the time, and l thought it was slightly frantic. Charles and Karen's tango l felt would have been better with different music - she looked positively thunderous at the end. Not too sure about Joe and Dianne's dance, the timing with all those props was out,bit fair play he gave it a good go! Faye and Giovanni, classic waltz. Think Graham and Oti & Lauren and AJ may be in trouble. As for the Lindyhopathon, well that's what live telly is all about ! Craig was clearly enjoying the whole debacle !

I liked Faye and Giovanni and Stacey and Kevin tonight. I too don't know why Lauren was marked so low. She has a better rapport with AJ than his previous partners. I also don't know why Graeme scored so highly last week, I usually find him clumpy and wooden.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
