Susannah has a brain and a good figure and looks reasonably fit and has said she wants to d well so why, oh why, couldn't Anton put together a good routine of basic steps and figures instead of going the comedy-because-she-can't-dance-route? I hope to goodness they get ballroom next week and that he behaves because she deserves more respect - and shouldn't have colluded with that horror.
Very impressed with the rest of the performances. Excellent for a first night and some real promise to great things to come.

Hello , was away so didn’t see Saturday’s routines but thought I saw in paper that Sussanah had injured herself , perhaps that was the reason for the routine ?
I felt sorry for Susannah. It struck me that Anton had gone straight for the comedy routine that he usually comes up with a few weeks in. It was unfortunate that they had Latin rather than Ballroom in the first week, but even if Susannah was injured, any pro would adapt the original routine to take it into account. I usually don't mind Anton, but l must admit l felt annoyed with him for not going with a "straight" routine.
At this early stage before voting, if someone is injured, why can't they be given a rest week and an average of everyone else's points? If they can't dance the following week - out. It would save Anton from embarrassing himself and his partner.

Presumably they'll be doing Ballroom this week, so Anton will be in his comfort zone. I hope Susannah has a better time. Shirley's comment to the comedian (forgotten his name) to "tidy yourself up", took me straight back to my school days. I hadn't heard that expression for a long time !
I enjoyed that but suspect he was offended and didn't take it seriously which would be a shame for his professional partner as that means he won't take the rest of it seriously either. We'll see.

I saw an interview with him on It takes two, where Zoe Ball mentioned Shirley's remarks. He said she had said something to him afterwards along the lines of " it was nothing personal, just not how she expected a tango to look". He did say that if he was a bodyguard, he would consider himself to be a bit of a scruff.
Bodyguards come in all shapes and sizes and also disguises so who knows? Ballroom tango however is a groomed affair requiring appropriate clothes and hair.

I saw Susanna's efforts on gogglebox. I have to say, it's why I DON'T watch strictly. An awful performance greeted with shrieks of , erm ? delight? from the studio audience.
Polite applause would have been acceptable, but why the histrionics ? When do the compulsory standing ovations start?
