    Morning all/afties Pat.
How ironic Pauline [that thread] - considering the news we woke up to here in Glasgow....
Devastating. They think they might save the facade, but that's probably about all. It was due to re open properly next year.   :(
Wet here and none too warm - barely double figures. Supposed to be a little better tomorrow.
Hope your day goes well tomorrow too BL.

    In tears again  here.
I took my girls on a tour there many years ago. I loved it so much I've still got the ticket in my wallet after all these years.
It's high time all buildings over a certain size/ height and all those open to the public have sprinkler systems installed.
My father died in 1975 and his job included fitting sprinklers in the QE2 and Royal Yacht Britannia. I remember him explaining the , incredibly simply , yet effective , way they work when I was doing a school project on " what your Dad does for a job ". It's not rocket science . Limited water damage is easier to repair to extensive fire damage.

Hmm ... we may be at MIL's a bit longer than planned ... the skip promised for yesterday has not yet arrived and their phone line seems not to be working today ...  :/

There's damage to some of the surrounding buildings too Hosta, so I think that's a bit of a sh**storm brewing all round. Some people are suggesting arson, but I find that a bit cynical, or maybe I'm just naive....  :/
I might go and look at cars later, but I'm not sure I can cope with r*ddy car salesmen on a Saturday. If only I could order one online and have it delivered...like the new plant supports I ordered on Thursday  :D
    What's on your list Dove?

You can, FG. All the main manufacturers will sell direct and deliver to your home, many dealerships will now as well, including 'approved' second hand cars and there are second hand car dealerships doing it too. You need to read up on the 'Which' guides and the like so you know your rights in terms of 14 day 'cooling off' periods and faulty cars, etc. But it's perfectly possible.

Tragic news about the School of Art. They came up with the arson theory the first time, didn't they? Was that ever concluded? I suppose the problem with sprinklers in a building like that is getting the pipes through the decorated and delicate interiors. As you say though, better to try than to lose the whole lot for the want of any fire suppression at all. Aside from the appalling loss of a priceless and beautiful building, no one dies in sprinklered buildings.

That's cheered me up [re the cars] R'girl   :D
Perhaps the rain will go off soon and I can do something productive. H****work doesn't have any appeal [for a change] and my arm hurts so I really can't use a hoover....
Don't know what that wumman did to me at the hospital, but my arm's been very painful ever since. Like permanent toothache.
I don't think that was the conclusion first time round [re the arson] I don't think 20-odd million will fix it this time either....
