Interesting Joyce. My old book which explains it very well also calls it “grafting” rather than Kitchener stitch. Dove, I’ve watched the various on line ones as well, but prefer my old fashioned version. 😏 Thanks anyway.

I did that yesterday Joyce (watering, not socks) but not sure it'll last a week  :/

Morning all, and what a gorgeous morning it is too. Helped immeasurably by sleeping from 10.30 last night until 7.30 this morning.
I'm most certainly one of those fed up with sport. Saturday night on the 4 main TV channels: Casualty , football, rugby union  and rugby league. Coo, the choice. We watched Kinky Boots on DVD.
I'm hoping the water pressure is better to-day than yesterday as my sprinkler is needed.

I water every day at the mo but just the pots and babies.  Beds just get watered to prepare for weeding or after new planting.   Grass gets nothing.   Odd forecasts at the mo.  In winter we get a temperature forecast and a wind chill factor to say what it will actually feel like.  At the mo we're getting high temps but brackets with a higher (what it feels like).   I thought breezes were cooling and the wind is from the north at the mo.

Never knitted a sock in my life and don't intend to start.   It's all I can do to manage 2 needles!

Chicky - very empty nest then.  Hope they have a great time.

Happy days to everyone enjoying the sunshine and/or off on hols.   Hugs to all not feeling so good.

In between the wretched knitting, I’ve been watching the moon appear over the range. It started off almost white, but as the light faded its turned lemon as usual. Almost full moon. Tomorrow should be it, I’d say. No clouds so a very clear view.

Yes Pat - 27th is the full moon.  Lovely views of it here too.

I was going to plant up a new strawberry bed today but the soil is bone dry so I shall have to water it this evening and plant up tomorrow.   Will find some shade and do some potting on instead.

When I make my socks I like to do a couple of extra rows of decrease until I have about 4/6 stitches, then run a thread through, I don’t like the seam across the toe end.
    Edited to add photo

Thanks Lyn. Sounds good. I’ve put my knitting away for now. I’ve had enough, besides Michael Moseley is about to come on.😃

I am amazed that anyone knits socks these days. Coming from an area that was big in the hosiery business, as far as I am concerned, socks are made in factories.  I used to pass a sock factory and the tights (Pretty Polly) factory on my way to school. Along with the Mansfield shoe company, they are  now long gone.
