Pat ... a slow worm is a reptile sometimes mistaken for a snake but really it's a legless lizard, a beautiful creature, harmless and very good for our gardens as they feed on slugs etc. They're shy secretive creatures and not often seen.

Morning peeps.  Slow worms ......not slow, and not a worm 🐛..... but beautiful despite the double misnomer.

Just been out for a bit of early morning watering 💦

Got Mr C’s canadian aunt coming to stay tonight, so that we can take her to the airport tomorrow morning.  Lovely lady, so should be a fun evening

    Happy Friday folks 😀🤪

Good morning.   Sunny again and getting very dry out there.  My weather station seems to think we're to have rain but the local forecast says not tho I am now to get storms and 4cms of rain early on Sunday morning.   Fingers crossed.

Lots to do today but coffee first after a night interrupted by heat and both pussies needing cuddles.

Have a good time with aunty, Chicky.  Glad the littlest has arrived safely.  Long journey.

Just been to inspect the next bed to weed and the silk tree has just started to flower.  No idea which one it is but a prettier pink than the buff ones and softer than the darker, almost crimson ones.    Lilies coming out too so I need to move their pots to a more prominent position.

Anyone got plans for the weekend?   Sunbathing?   Watering?

    Morning all.
    Another beautiful day here.
Hair cut at 9 then heading back to the lake to clear goat willow branches which are taking liberties hanging in the water. We did some last night ( most unusual to have Hubby help with something messy !!)
@chicky Your girls will have a great time. I know it's not easy for kids in many ways now ( housing, job market etc ) but the opportunities to travel are wonderful.
@Lyn I hope your pressure is sorted. Our water was a bit milky last night, ( was there a faint "chemical" smell to it? or my imagination ) maybe they've switched the pumps up a gear or two.
@WonkyWomble, Hosta Hugs for lovely Hub, and for you , or course.

    Morning all.

    Glad littlest Chicklet arrived safely.

Been there with daughters, it can be a worrying time.

    Love Hosta's house colour.
Lili P, my OH had his cataract done in February, he's delighted with it.

We had a great day at the Norfolk show, lovely weather, loads to see. I spent 2 1/2 hours watching horses of all sizes. Magnificent Clydesdales, pretty Welsh Mountains. Some of that time OH went to look at farm machinery. Amazing array of chickens of all colours and sizes, even guinea pig classes. There was a flower show and gardening section too and a huge food hall. I enjoyed the gun dog display too, the Labradors and Spaniels were so well trained. Then I wanted to see the pigs but it was too late, everyone was packing up and we realized we’d been there 8 hours! Seemed half that.

We went to a BBQ with neighbours in the evening, enjoyed that as well.

Today we are going to Peterborough to get OH’s new passport.

Meant to ask - does anyone know if there is a hosepipe ban in Norfolk? Can I water my flower bed? I've watered the pots, they look very sad but plants are still alive. The rockery bank is doing very well.

Don't think there are any hosepipe bans ....yet.  Apparently we have had 1.2mm of rain in Essex this June so far (3% of normal) and the long range forecasts show the jet stream staying to the north of the UK for the foreseeable which means winds from the continent and not much rain. Farmers are worried about their crops wilting.

No hosepipe bans here BL  :)

Glad you enjoyed the show ... love Clydesdales, and Suffolks of course .... did you see the Supreme beef cattle champion ... a magnificent Aberdeen Angus from the Shadwell Estate down near you in the Thetford area.  Great pic of him on the local press website
