Hi all Well I didn't want to dig holes, and I certainly won't be today. It is pitch black and I have only seen rain like this, in the tropics. At the moment, I am sitting in the study, watching a river flowing down the drive. I think that I have managed to persuade Moira, that regardless of whether she has a job or not, that we are going to take a week in July, and see if we can get to Scotland. Hope you can get Possum sorted @Obelixx, that's what Mums are for.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Buckets are out, dotted around the house. I love this place, but even after 25 years living here and multiple jobs done on it, the house has never been fully waterproof.

That sounds a lovely idea Pdoc Just pace yourself and remember to make your plans flexible ... that way you can both enjoy it and really relax
You may well be having the downpour that passed over us ... it was absolutely torrential ... the Boots the Chemist which is joined onto our W'rose had buckets out under the 'join'
I've changed my clothes and towelled myself down ... but still feel sort of 'dampish' if you know what I mean.
I've started a new thread for recipes using our garden produce ... I know we've tried it before, but now that we can Bookmark them properly it might work ... I've just made some lovely soup to start us off ... it only took ten minutes to prep (including picking the lettuce) and ten minutes to cook ... and it smells wonderful

Oh doc - I think that's a great idea. I'll have a word re the weather and make sure it's decent for you...Can't promise anything re the midges though We still have zero rain - despite the thundery clouds. Bizarre. I sat and watched four buzzards high up in the sky earlier, wheeling round and round. They're very common here, but I always love seeing them. Lovely jubbly I think I might have to paint Dove. Bound to have the heavens opening then! Liri - that's the little Iris - chrysographes. Damp soil and doesn't need full sun. Mine face east, and don't have sun through the middle of the day, but at this time of year it's high enough to catch them later in the day. That'll be lovely when the offending item plops out Obelixx.... Where's yon green 'boak' face smiley we used to have?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
We've rainspots on the front westfacing window, and sunshine in the back garden ... that soup was delicious .... OH was very enthusiastic ... ate it all up, scraped the pan and then was disappointed that there's none left for tomorrow
