    Hello all!

That sounds a great selection of ideas from Kleipieper, Chicky!  Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes for a happy birthday, Punkdoc.  Hope you and Moira have found something lovely to do.

Sunny again here; yesterday I wore lots more layers to go to the NE, where the Met Office said the max temp was to be 11C.  There was a brisk wind, too.  Not as hot here as previously, but that suits me fine - great weeding weather.   :)

Thanks, Obelixx and LilyP - finger is healing nicely.  It hurts if I press it, so I'm being careful.

LilyP - have a lovely time with your granddaughter!

New bed planted.  Only about 4m x 1 but it's a start.  All purpley except for the golden rose and a white hydrangea which picks up the variegation on the buddleia at the other end.

I've left room for things to spread but still need a few late spring/mid summer flowering bits of ground cover to complete it and the rusty trellis.  Have made a temporary bamboo support for Jackmanii.   I do hope Graham Thomas grows now.  He's been sat sulking since I bought him a few years ago and his root system is feeble to say the least but he does have some healthy looking foliage so fingers crossed.   Last chance saloon for him.

Hot and sweaty now as it's about 30C out there.   Quick coat of paint on the alcove and then shower and pasta before dancing.

Good post Kleipieper!  LP - I hope you have a lovely time with GD.   Still hot Joyce?

Planting has started. I've got the big cannas in place and just need to get 93 dahlias and a few dozen smaller cannas planted.
No rain as yet, but it's looking  very threatening.
It's not often I say this , in Devon, but I'd not mind some rain for the garden but only if it's in the hours of darkness.

Happy Birthday Pdoc - hope you found a great way of celebrating the big one.  Sometimes the impromptu ones are the best 🎉🎊

thanks for all the tips kleipieper.....especially the flower market.  Mr C has a number of cycle routes planned (most seem to involve cheese of some sort - Gouda and Edam feature) but I hope we can find some time for wandering too.  I’ll share pics - sounds like I need to remember the sunscreen  B)

Right, got to go pack a bag 🎒

Evening all, new flowerbeds and babies all watered. Some looked a bit limp this morning after ther ordeal (2 days in a car and then manhandled into the ground in hot sun :o ) but they have all perked up. I suppose I should deadhead some (or limphead???) but such pretty colours, I am reluctant to remove. Sad & silly I know but I have been admiring them all one by one and checking them all like newly born babes.  :D

Had another coach party in for cream teas so a busy day, very happy when everyone left and I was able to get back to gardening.  :)

Dahlias Hosta, I love them, just got one in my new bed, all there was room for, a beautiful orange one, well I hope it ends up looking like the picture anyway.

Now it is dark, can't possibly do anymore, time for shower & bed ready to get up at daybreak and adire it all again.

Enjoy the dancing Obelixx, good eveing to all.  :)

  • Gave my plants a good soak this evening after a nice afternoon catching the sun.

Thinking of paying a visit to Culzean castle tomorrow to take in the gardens, I haven't been there since I was a wee boy....well, there was that one time as a young man, but best to skip over that particular evening methinks. Maybe follow one of the trails for a bit and then find a nice spot to enjoy a wee piece or two and catch a bit more sun. Sounds like a plan.

Another two Dahlias have started sprouting in the garden.  Just one to go and I haven't lost any despite the winter we had.  Hoping the weather isn't too bad in the South West Hosta as we are coming down on Saturday for a few days.

DD, it sounds as if a garden was exactly what you needed to make you happy... I know the feeling.   :)

I was less happy to find that some moron has smashed one of the recently-uncovered stone slabs round the well in the park, with a coping stone wrenched off the wall...  we may need to cover some of them with earth to protect them.  Makes me sick.
