OH has spent hours today forking over one side of the polytunnel - 8m x 1.5m bed - removing bindweed as he went.  I went down to plant the sweetcorn and was doing fine till driven in the PT by a thunderstorm and heavy rain.  Not forecast.  We were joined by an affronted Minstrel and a nervous Bonzo.  She doesn't approve of rain and he's afraid of storms.

It stopped long enough for me to finish the sweetcorn and then began again in earnest with even more noise and hailstones too and I got thoroughly soaked rescuing babies out being hardened off.  OH, Bonzo and I were stuck for well over an hour.   I potted on Thai basil and morus nigra (mulberry) babies then garlic chives and baptisia before it all stopped again and we could escape to walk the dogs and paint a wardrobe respectively.

Gorgeous hostas!   Yvie - I have that centaurea and love it.   Hoping it spreads well.

I hope you have a lovely day, Chicky.

Hosta, your garden is looking fantastic, thank you so much for downsizing your photos.

Did planting of tomatoes, sweet peppers, courgettes and cucumbers this morning and weeding in the flower garden this afternoon.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Morning all.
Chicky, enjoy the show. The weather looks fab. Try to get some shots of Chris Beardshaw's garden. BBC coverage on it has been minimal to date.
    BL, Thank-you too.

Right, I've spent an hour watering so I'm having a cuppa then heading back to bed.
The birds are up and about now and there was even a bumble bee out there too.

Morning all. Hoping for a good day today. OR at least the kind of day where people can get access to the very basics.

    Good morning,
my goodness you have all been busy
i appreciate the accounts of building madness by other Forkers. Obelixx and Busy, Joyce Fairy et all We had a meeting with our councillor and learnt of other planned sites we had no idea of. The world of planners is a very grey one and I would recommend everyone checks their surroundings annually! Green belts mean nothing, you are only safe if the sea is in front of you!
first thing is to plant as many Rosa rugosa/ Berberis that we can get in.
sorry to be a moaner but we are dreadfully upset by this
off to read 2dogs. That will calm me down!
    have a good day

Such a shame LilyP - hope it doesn’t come to that (although a hedge of Rosa rugosa sounds good whatever happens  :) )

on my train to London Town, very excited for my day at Chelsea.  Will post pics later - CB’s will be our first stop
