Up early today. I am also expecting a man to fix the gutters. We had the bargeboards and gutters and downpipes replaced a couple of years ago.  Only they replaced everything without really sorting the problem. We had it done because one of the down pipes was blocked and in heavy rain, the wall got soaked and damp was coming through a double brick wall (no cavity). It turned out that the down pipe fed into a soakaway under the drive. Next doors downpipe also feeds into a soakaway under my drive.  60 years from building and the concrete slabs are moving, we assume the stuff under it is washing away. So the downpipes on both houses have to be diverted into drains. Then next week the drive is coming up. I am expecting a big hole. Still, we will have plenty of hardcore for it. Then the drive will be remade, hard core, then porous tarmac, then an inch of resin bonded pebbles, and then fine glass powder on it to make it non slip. ( it has a steep slope onto the road which is treacherous in winter) Then if all that works we can redecorate  on the inside.  It's never just a half hour job is it?
For anyone getting married today, it's a lovely day for it.
For our neighbours daughter getting married in September, the first batch of sweet peas and gladioli are in. The cut flower patch has been cleared of the mass of forgetmenots that take over at this time of year. There is a compost heap to go on it, then stocks, statice, gypsophila, dahlias can go in.
Fingers crossed for a lovely day for everyone.

    Morning all.
I've got irises to get onto the allotment, sweet peas to be planted out and then beds to mulch down there.
If there's time before the sunbed beckons, I might try to get my banana planted  @Obelixx ;)

    Hi all
Another beautiful day, have been very fortunate recently, makes me feel much better about missing our trip north.
Wishing very good luck to the happy couple, I hope that the wedding might do great things for race relations in this country.

Does anyone think the Happy Couple have had time to dig out a map of Scotland?

    Morning all.

Great weather here too.  Glad it makes you feel more positive, Punkdoc!

I'm going to do some shopping, then back to cut the grass - by which time the dew should have dried, all being well.  I plan to make a bandage cover out of cling film; I thought OH's large sized rubber gloves might stretch over my finger, but it's too fat...
then I might pluck up courage to practise the horn again, even though it's going to be rather more audible for the neighbours because our roof ridge is only covered with underfelt!  It's the right hand which does all the valve stuff, while the left just makes sure you don't drop the instrument, so it should be ok.

I'm a touch typist.  It's very strange teaching my first finger to do what the middle one would normally manage without thinking about it...

    Have a lovely day everyone!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Right, that's the second lot of washing hung up to dry in the conservatory.
    Time for some gardening.
Have a good weekend one and all.

Tis only right, she is related to the kings of Scotland after all, I wish I could use the genealogist  she used.

Ouch Liri - hope the finger's ok. Really frustrating isn't it when you want to get on?
I should have been away walking - it's a superb day for it, but I don't want to risk the oil leak and being stuck at the other end of Glen Etive. B**$£* and B*%$"*. One of the girls at work is doing Ben More [Crianlarich] today with her friend. They haven't been up a hill of any kind since last year. Think I'd have picked something slightly less unforgiving! Youngsters eh?  The webcam is showing it completely clear so they'll have some great views. I'm not jealous at all..honest guv.... :/
Been outside doing loads of little jobs and watching the fat pigeon stuff his fat face with food and then stuff his fat head into the pond for a drink. Simple pleasures  :)
Is someone getting married today then? You'd never know. Hasn't been mentioned on the radio or the news or or the t'interweb or anywhere....
I apologise for my cynicism. It's of about as much relevance to me as my wedding would be to them.  ;) Good luck to them anyway.
Hosta - maybe they'll be up for a stay in a lodge/caravan at Loch Lomond and a shuftie up the hill then.... ;)
My daughter informed me that there was a banner up in the local Asda where she works part time, with a few sh***y balloons attached. One of the staff said - 'oh is that Harry that works here?' He wasn't even joking. Don't you just love students   :D
Never a simple job fidget. What a total pain. Hope you get it sorted properly. Good time to get it done though.
Lunch and off back outside. Enjoy the weather everyone - if you have it .
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

well, I've just popped in for a cuppa.
Flowers at the door of the church: lovely, her flowers: pretty, the dress: so so, a bit dull, but her  ( well, the Queen's ) tiara was divine.

I know it's ideologically unsound, for a man of my politics, but I have just watched a bit of the wedding, and I found it rather lovely.
    particularly liked the cello player.
Sorry if I am being inappropriate, but I think Megan is fairly fit.
