Hubby keeps saying " you don't need any more plants" I reply: "When the garden is as stuffed as your wardrobe, I'll stop. When you go a year without buying yet more clothes: I'll stop buying plants." Neither will ever happen.
I love being single - if I want plants I buy them, if I want clothes I buy them. No need to debate it with anyone! Although - when I mentioned buying some small plants a while ago, youngest said 'Mum, you don't have room for any more plants'.....
Glad you're ok chicky. Horrible event. None of us really knows what's round the corner, but perhaps we need reminding now and again of how fortunate most of us really are. I take a look at my hill photos whenever I feel put out by something. It gets life in perspective and makes me appreciate my good fortune. Good to see you doc. Lovely pic. Shame about your trips, but your own health and welfare is more important. Those lovely places will still be there for you to enjoy in the future I've missed your query about the Karcher LG. Is it the size of them that's the issue because of transporting it? My ex partner had one and I don't remember it being too massive.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Evening & hello all. Shouldn't really be on here, my new shelves have been fitted in the kitchen and I am trying to get everything on them in a logical and practical order. Probably will end up swapping things around several times before we work it out. Also got a lot on this week, Garden Party on Saturday, still got the Lemon and Elderflower wedding cake to make and lots of other jobs but sneaked a quick peek at the chats and got sidetracked. PDoc, so sorry about your cancelled plans, very disappointing and frustrating. Hard to find positives I know but good to see you are trying.
I know it doesn't mean much to others, but one of my regular customers died yesterday, complications of another mediical problem, it was unexpected and we had heard he was on the mend, so a bit of a shock. One of the waitresses and I are going to the funeral and we are also doing the 'wake' here at Chateau de Gateaux. Just feel very sad, sad for his wife & family and sad for the loss of such a jolly chap. It does however, make you feel grateful to be alive and well and more determined to appreciate every moment.
One moment I didn't fully appreciate was being interviewed live on the radio this morning about the Royal Wedding and our Garden party. Of course I wanted the publicity, but hearing ones own voice (in a second language with my terrible accent) was a bit toe curling.
Anyway, I must get back to it, I have a reservation for early breakfasts tomorrow as they are catching a flight home. It was bad enough opening up especially early for them, but having accepted the booking I was not happy to be told there were two of the party that were lactose intolerant and could I do something special for them ??- Grrw
Sorry, must get back to appreciating every moment.

Perhaps you need a line on your website/booking form to say dietary restrictions will be catered for as much as possible providing any special needs are mentioned at the time of booking.

Today I decided to take another wee break from prepping my new garden.........and done my neighbours a favour by going into their gardens and cutting back all the brambles, jaggy nettles and out of control hedges. After that I had a wee spell in the chair soaking up the sun, watching my great tit nip in and out of its bird box....... and.....I couldn't keep away from my garden so I raked it over again and got even more stones out of it.
Am I mad for thinking what will be my lawn area looks great when its just freshly tilled soil?
Thanks Obxx - the pressure washer is pretty new and set up to be lent out, so I'm hoping all will be neatly packaged... fingers crossed. And PP, I'm going to be hyper-aware of how I look now, imagining you laughing at me! Fairy, I've got to get it from the library to the bus stop, then from the bus stop home, so I was asking if that was going to be possible. Tomorrow morning will tell!
DD, well done on your radio interview. And your marketing generally - I confess to following CdeB on Facebook and it's definitely got a presence . Hope Saturday goes well.
BG, I know exactly what you mean! I spent such a long time preparing the soil for my lawn that I got very attached to the tilth and almost didn't want to cover it .
Have a good time in Canberra, Pat.
Night all.

LG, I was sad about Beth Chatto too, but she did well to reach 94. She was 13 months older than my mother who died 6 years ago. I ordered plants from her when I was in my 20s and she wrote to me, how I wish I'd kept the letter. She taught me a lot too and I have plants and shrubs from her nursery here in France.
I hope, Punkdoc, that you will get better and be able to see those places another year.
No gardening since last Thursday, has been tipping with rain.
Went to Aubeterre today to see the bi-lingual lady who helps English people with their tax forms. Mine is now sent off, thank goodness, OK for another year.
On the way back we stopped for lunch at a lovely restaurant that has a trout farm next to a river. We had timbale of raw marinated trout with avocado and salad followed by trout with almonds then strawberries, meringues and cream, 17€ each.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Sorry about your customer and friend DD, it will be hard to do the wake but also an honour. we heard of a friend yesterday, 59, dropped stone dead on the golf course. Such a shock for the family. Live life well with no regrets As some of you know our wee gd has a condition. We take it on a daily basis or we would go mad. Today she is great.
something is eating my trilliums! Am away to do some research, all opinions welcome meantime

Morning all. Awake before 4 this morning. I've had a cuppa, watered all the pots and troughs on the terrace, put the hose into the pond to top it up and now on my second cuppa. Coal face between 12-8 tonight. It's going to be a long day.
