Hello all, been a busy few days, realised I haven't been here since 8th May when we went on a visit to Vézelay when I was staying with son 1. Pretty Burgundy village with an Abbey and stunning views. Enjoyed seeing the 3 small granddaughters.

As soon as I got home on Wednesday friends from our Norfolk village came to stay, they'd been on holiday in their camper van. They left yesterday and I spent the rest of the day gardening.

Today has poured with rain. This afternoon I went to Son 2's in local town as it was baby's 1st birthday and had been their oldest son's 4th birthday, so I took pressies and we had birthday tea.

Today was also a local flower show, felt sorry for them because of the awful weather, didn't go. Wonder if it was the one DD mentioned. It's on tomorrow too but my friend in the village is having an open garden so I'll go to that, forecast isn't very good.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Busy, baby's first year has flown past. Lovely that friends from your Norfolk village have been to visit and I'm sure they loved your garden.....much different to your cottage one. Hope the rain holds off for the open garden visit.
Pleased you had a day in the hills Fairy :)
Agree Obelixx that it's all in the preparation if you want a good job.

We always watch Eurovision. It’s really Hubbys thing rather than mine. He’s got all the videos and CDs from way back when.  It’s changing a bit. Sort of not so dynamic I feel.

Glenys, hello from us others on the southern half of  the globe.  It’s been freezing still. We didn’t get the snow but did manage about 10 mils of moisture. Not sure it was really rain, but sleet.

I’ve just been out to check the rain gauge - 1 whole mm for yesterday’s freezing sleety windy day. The wind blew over the solid “little house” that my daughter made for storing garden things. Luckily it fell onto the mobile wood trailer we keep at the back for fire wood.

It took both of us to get it back into its corner.

Morning all, It's really the middle of the night for me, not an early riser but back pain has kept me awake for most of the night, that'll teach me to walk miles at the Malvern show and then spend the next day gardening.  Dosed up with painkillers but not doing much good yet.  I want to get the rest of my pots planted up today but I'll have to see how things go.  Maybe Hubby will do the lifting for me and I can just do the pretty bit.  Hope everyone else is still fast asleep.

Morning Yvie [or have you got back to sleep?] / afties Pat.
You're having some duff weather Pat   :(
Hope your back eases Yvie - a bit of heat on it might help a little, although sometimes theese things just take their own sweet time to improve.
Prep is definitely the key to the right finish Obs. I'm too much like my Dad - spend ages on it and I'm sure other people never notice! Can't help it if you like a job well done though eh?  ;)
BL - hard to imagine the little one is already a year old. As Joyce said - time has flown!
Damp, cool and dreich here. Supposed to be a reasonable day so I hope they're right and it clears.

Good morning all  :). Hope the pain relief kicks in soon Yvie ... I find a good soak in a really warm bath can ease things.

Thinking of Chicky ... she's in Paris isn't she?  Hope she's not been caught up in yesterday evening's troubles.

We've had a little rain overnight  and the weedlings in the veg patch are growing as you watch them!  Today's activities will involve a hoe  :)
