Hello, I'm back ... just a checkup and a quick scrub and he pronounced himself pleased with them.
Then I did a bit of shopping and got some beef short ribs, sausages, two fresh trout for supper tonight, some very good Lincolnshire Poacher, a small wholemeal loaf and some spinach and other veg from the market, a new nightdress and undies from M&S for our holiday and a newspaper to read at the bus stop. I have to go into the city again on Thursday for a haircut so I'll pick up some more shopping then. I'm having a lovely cheese and onion sandwich for my lunch and I'll have a look and see what's been going on here ...

Happy May Day! In France and Belgium they offer little bouquets of "muguets" to wish friends, neighbours and family good luck and happiness for the season -
After a lie in and a late start we finally set off for the May Day plant fair. Still don't know what to expect at these things here so no shopping list other than looking for a magnolia (bit late for this year) or a pretty, blossomed tree for a corner by our front gate and anything else which takes our fancy.
We found a man selling very cheap US trees and OH tried to persuade me we wanted a Colorado pine - quel horreur! Will get huge and be desperately dull green all year and no life to it except for a brief couple of weeks with paler green new shoots in spring. We came home with a Liriodendron Tulipifera instead. 3' high, healthy and a mere 4€.
We've bought bog plants for the pond edges - saggittaria (can't be without as we are both Sags, pontederia, rodgersia and some iris emparata which are new to me and look just like sibirica. Also found a wee white weigelia Snow Queen and some alpine type ground cover jobbies for the very dry bed at the front. Good haul.
Glad your daughter has managed to help her neighbour Pat and well done you for homing the dog. I hope grandson's first day has gone well.
Greetings to all. Enjoy whatever you're doing, even teeth! Must go and pot on some of the new treasures as their roots are escaping........

Weather reversal today Dove. Cold wind and threatening rain. Really wish we could get a settled spell of dry, warm weather. I'm sure plants don't know if they're coming or going. You did very well at the plant fair Obelixx.
