Morning all from the airport en route back to France. Using OH’s iPad, don’t have a Smart phone. My mobile phone is basic, no signal at home. To look at a phone I have to find my glasses and I’m not sure I’d understand what to do with anything too complicated.

@punkdoc ,most of my cannas and dahlias were planted last week ,( he says ,smugly ) but there are a few left over which are going down to " the allotment" to bulk up for the summer.
My job today ,as it's raining, is to get the polytunnel ready to plant out the tomatoes which are still in 9cm pots.
I had a call from Scottish Widows a few days ago asking if I'd agree to be contacted to look at some marketing letters. The guy phoned earlier and I told him ... " the letter I want to  see from SW is one which says " you know that endowment you took out in 1997 for your £62,000 mortgage which, very shortly afterwards we told you we'd only give you £40K because of the stock market woes? Well, given that we made £899,000,000 profit last year, we're going to put it back up to £62K" Are you going to show me a letter which says that? I asked him. "Erm no"
Does anyone actually trust anyone in the financial sector ?

@Hostafan1, I have just received my endowment statement from Prudential, showing me the expected short fall, and reminding me, that my payments cease next year.
How can you lie there and think of England

Well, they only made £4,699,000,000 profit last year , of course they can't pay you back what they promised when you took out the policy with them.

Good morning, just.  It's feeling a bit muggy here after a very wet day yesterday but not so warm that muggy is uncomfortable.   Possum's last day today so we're off our for a simple lunch somewhere then a visit to the Haras de la Vendée - national stud stables at La Roche-s-Y.    We all like horses.

I used to have a basic mobile phone for emergencies or to use when travelling to meet people and hitting delays but never texted.  Life is too short to hit a teeny key four times to get an S.   Then I was bought a phone with a keyboard but I have to wear glasses to see it and also tell it which language I'm using and shift keyboards for capitals and numbers.   Not for every day then.  I use my PC for emails, internet and research and a proper camera with an eye view for photos.

Have to go and shower now.  Pdoc- your cannas can wait a day or two with no harm done.

I think the old quote goes something along the lines of "Banks & insurance companies; when its sunny they insist in renting you an umbrella (for a large fee), when it starts raining they demand it back"

I've just had a phone call:
" I'm calling from ( some name I've already forgotten ) " We've received information you are receiving unwanted calls to this phone number" "yes" I said, cutting him short, "and this is one of them" he hung up.

Have always managed without a mobile phone, I think it was growing up without even a landline that left me not feeling the need. I remember going off hitchhiking round Europe just saying bye to my parents, see you in a few weeks. Progress was measured by the occasional postcard which usually arrived after we got back home!

I'm not a Luddite though, far too many computers in this house for that and I have just bought a Raspberry Pi to make a home media server. If that goes well the next Pi project will be a wildlife camera for the garden.

Hi folks on our way back from Cornwall. Had a lovely time. It's pouring down now.

Use my mobile loads. Check in with children and grandchildren. Taking photos & videos. Internet shopping. Making notes and reminders. My calendar is on their so I know when Jonah and Merri days are. It's set up to remind me about local garden open days and throuo WhatsApp I get loads of photos of the grandchildren. Wouldn't be without it. Can't way to get home and check on the garden.

Glad you had a lovely time in Cornwall Yvie  B)  Haven't been home a week and already looking forward to going back  B)

I use my phone for all those things too ... but I still have it on silent in the evenings and at night, and quite often if we're out for the day ... I can still use it of course, but it doesn't make demands on me  ;)
