Evening all. Got back quite late, glorious day, but a tough shift up the hill. Just as well it was windy or it would have been unbearable. The walkhighland site isn't kidding when they say it's an 'unremittingly steep grind' from the Glenceitlin side! A good test for my legs, and the arm was fine. Views were stunning though. Got a couple of sets of exercises done too - when I could find a level enough bit of ground. I've read back and instantly forgotten everything Hosta - glad you turned down the driving tomorrow. The guy at the petrol station is a gobsh**e. Everyone seems to have had a productive and/or pleasant day, and no-one has been affected by the thunderstorms. I may need a nap soon, as I've been up since half five and I have work tomorrow. I had a little paddle at the bridge on the way back, and refilled my water. Had the 'beach' to myself.... Huge isn't it!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Looks idyllic Fairy - glad you are starting to conquer those hills again.
We got wet KP . But only a few times, and it didn’t spoil our ride. Found lots of windmills, and beautiful countryside, with a few more picture postcard villages thrown in for good measure. You really do live in a beautiful part of the world
Once we finished we drove down to Zealand - we are staying the night in Middelburg. Have another ride planned tomorrow across to some islands, before catching a late train/tunnel home. Top weekend, although beginning to feel a bit saddle sore 😳
Hello all. Don't know where the last week has gone - I keep popping in meaning to post, read back and then don't have time to write! Hope everyone is OK. Your weekend sounds brilliant, Chicky. I hope that by the time you read this, Pat, you've had a good sleep and are feeling rested. Dove, glad your hols went well. And... now I've run out of memory. Oh yes, good to hear you're back in the saddle (so to speak) with the hill walking, Fairy.
I got loads of gardening done at the beginning of last week, then went on a college trip to Wisley. My goodness I love it there. Was weirdly poorly for a couple of days afterwards, but OK again now apart from an annoying cough. The storms last night were amazing! 3 or more hours of lightning every 30 seconds to a minute. And so much rain. No damage though. We spent ages at an open window, unable to tear ourselves away from the spectacle.
And one last thing - I spotted that punkdoc and Hosta both grow Ricinus. I've grown them from seed for the first time this year, but they're not the big strong plants I've seen elsewhere. Any tips would be welcome.
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Those were the days when you spent ten days in hospital getting to know your baby and how to look after him ... we arrived home early New Year ... his Papa had been invited to parties all over Christmas and New Year to wet the baby's head
Awe that's lovely Dove, I mean being able to spend time with your baby 😉
I couldn't stay awake beyond 9.30 , well, that is until 12.30 and I've awake since. GGRRRRR Chicky, your trip looked lovely but I'm sure you could happily have been there longer to soak it all in, ( see what I did then ? )
Good morning all its glorious out there ... we've had no thunder and no rain at all other than a few minutes light drizzle yesterday afternoon ... I shall be doing some watering as well as weeding today.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all/afties Pat. We could do with your hubby over here Pat - fires in the Highlands and Skye. Incredible. A fitful night, so I've got up and I'm having a cuppa before getting ready for work. Hope Hosta got back to sleep for a little while...
I was wondering who would have got some thunder and torrential rain LG. Spectacular to watch - not so funny if you get flooded though Hope you're feeling a bit better today. chicky - I'm sure the rain only dampened you - and not your enthusiasm. Lovely pic - what a great time you're having Back to the grind Dove...no more fish and chips and ice creams for a while eh? I'll have a quick look round before a shower and some exercises...catch you all later. Have fun if you're off work
