Evening all. Have a lovely trip Dove. Make sure everything is to your liking when you arrive - you know what some of these B&B owners are like..... Cool here last night too LP - about 4 - but a lovely day after an odd one yesterday. It's supposed to be colder tonight though... Obelixx - I grew a pot of white sweet peas in a border which doesn't get much sun. I had a pot of the same ones in a sunny position. The ones in the shade did much better. They were white, which possibly made a difference. I don't think they need as much sun as we're often led to believe. Our temps average at about 17 or 18 over the summer, with often single figure temps overnight, and I think they grow better for it. Glad you had a lovely time Liri. I struggle to catch up too if I've not been on for a day - don't think I was on yesterday. I'd never remember any of it if I looked back!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Welcome back Liri - sounds like you had a good time. My bro has been up at the lakes since the weekend - don't suppose you bumped into a bald ginger bloke, probably with binoculars fixed to the front of his face? Glad the concert went well .
The dirty furniture is wooden, very knackered, and I should have blasted it - it wouldn't have done any harm and would have looked considerably better. But I was running out of time and Tuesday's a complicated one with the kids so I had to 1. Get clean, 2. Get dinner for one of them and make sure it was something that could be reheated for t'other, and 3. Get the pressure washer back to the library via convoluted bus route due to a burst water main... so I stopped. Am still marvelling at the Mediterranean lightness of the patio - I'm sure it wasn't that bright to start with!
And Obelixx, I had never realised your screenname was an actual obelisk reference - I had only picked up on the Belgian angle.
College today, where once again I learnt about all the things I've done wrong in the garden...

Assuming your garden is growing LG, maybe it's a case of rules are made to be broken. Now your furniture looks dirty you could either sand it all clean and oil it or else hire the Karcher again and oil it once dry.
Thanks FG. I've decided to sow some but got distracted today - loads of rust, couple of hours trundling round cutting grass, planted a dozen more porculata grandiflora (big name for a wee plant) round the well and found I need 12 more. Pruned back some of the wisteria now it's going over and squished more snails in my treasures. Must finish weeding the sunny bed so I can get the last of the crinum planted.
Hope you have a good journey Dove.

The trip to Canberra was exhausting, so by the time got back last night I hit the sack very early and am just now emerging. We drove around for almost an hour trying to find a car park near our appointment ( with the air turning blue in the car with Hubby exclaiming every two seconds) and in the end parked in a shopping centre and walked to the meeting with the aid of Hubbys iPad map guiding us. What a drama.
I appear to be having a reaction to the flu jab because I’ve been aching all over since Monday. At first I thought I must have had a dose of MSG, but searching my memory couldn’t think of anything I’d eaten out of our usual diet. Then as the days went on, realised it must have been the jab.
Very cool here today. it was minus 4 this morning.
The motel was very disappointing this time. The only room available had a spa bath instead of a normal shower, so when I saw it I decided it would be dangerous for me to try to get in and out of, so I didn’t use it. Hubby tried, but found it very hard to get out of. We wont be using that Motel again.😡
Morning all. Dove will be eating up the miles by now 🚙🚙🚙. Glad your weekend was fun Liri.
Just been and uncovered all my GH babies - luckily the threatened frost did not materialise.....although risk of one tonight last time I looked. The munched acer looks like it is trying to produce leaves from leaf buds it didn’t know it had. Dig deep little tree 🍁🍁🍁💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
My countdown to Chelsea starts here - 5 more sleeps 🛏
Morning all. I had a whole , massive, delightful, 10, yes TEN hours sleep last night, so our VIP guest will be met by Mr Freshasadaisy and not Mr Grumpyknickers ( as Hubby calls me when I've not had enough sleep ) Have a good trip Dove and lovely OH. The weather here is perfect for your arrival. I hope you feel better Pat. Sounds like you didn't have the best trip.
Morning all, thanks for weather update Fairy, I think I will keep the cold frames open tonight and see what happens Pat did you say you had the pneumonia jab as well as flue? It was the former that made my hubby ill, lie low for a while Liri sounds like you had a good time Dove have a fun holiday , your host should be in tip top form? chicky, phew!

Good morning. Opposite of Hosta here after being snored at till just before dawn. Grump. It is cool and breezy so I'm going to prime the wardrobe indoors now that it's dried and aired and then do a bit more rusty stuff before tackling weeds in the sun bed so I can plant the crinums and then tackle the shade bed. Found 3 more hostas to rescue from there. Snail fest.
Long drive for Dove but interesting places en route, assuming she's not going anywhere near the M25 and M4. I'm thinking at least one future trip to or from Possum's uni could go via Giverny. Maybe I could tempt her with a stop off in Chartres...... Anyone been in September? And then I'd just have to go again for the irises in spring.
Hope you're feeling better Pat. I suspect a dose of flu and pneumonia at the same time wold wipe most of us out. I was advised always to take a big, soluble paracetamol half an hour before a flu jab to reduce reactions. Try that next year?
LP I hope all your babies are OK this morning. FG - are you working? Can't be easy with a duff arm and shoulder, even just the driving on bendy roads.
Have a good day all. Lots to do here before I get cleaned up for dance class.
