I was indeed born there. They used to say that most people were actually born in the ambulance on the way up there as the road was in such a bad state they got shaken out! Must pop in next time I'm up as it would be rather strange to be in the room again where I first came into the world.
My first "proper" hillwalking expedition was up the Kilpatrick Hills past the house in waist deep snow and whiteout blizzard conditions at the tender age of 13.
It would be very strange [ a visit] steephill - but interesting! Do you miss hillwalking ? I couldn't stand not being out after being away from it for a few years due to my knees. The joy of being on top of a hill again is impossible to explain, unless of course, like you, you've been there and done it What do you mean - relax, B.Gardener? Get back out there and work off that curry You've been busy Obelixx - they couldn't possibly bake...they'd damage their false nails... You've been busy too. I won't manage any painting for a while - shoulder is much better, but ceilings and careful cutting in would be a bridge too far.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@Fairygirl Sorry, it's too late to be working off the curry now, I'm on to the beetroot, sweet potato chips and homemade mint yogurt dip. I reckon I've earned it.
Ever the optimist I bought a new pair of boots last year. Had to try 7 different pairs before getting a good fit as the increased load over the years has broadened my already wide feet. So far they have only seen the local mini hills, the Hindhead Alps and Blackdown but you have to start somewhere. Keep posting the hill pics, every encouragement helps

Glad it helps steephill. Hopefully you'll be superfit in no time and ready for a trip back up here for some proper hills....

FG - no ceilings at the mo, but wardrobes are fiddly in their own sweet way. One more coat should do it. No more hills with these feet and knees but my old hill walking boots have been resurrected and do me very well for walkies on lumpy bumpy lanes.
Hosta - does hubby bake? My OH hasn't baked anything in years either.
Steephill - home grown beetroot?
Who said the Duke of Ed was looking old? I should think anyone would at nearly 97 let alone just after major hip surgery! OH watched his recording in the kitchen while I cooked dinner and made a picnic for tomorrow and baked biscuits. I thought the congregation looked miserable most of the time. Odd.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Evening all, Have been out in the garden all day planting annuals, my new rose and moving and spliting Lemon Queen, yes I know it's not the ideal time but needed to do it to get the rose in. It's been a beautiful day and looks like another one tomorrow. Nothing planned so it will be gardening again. Yay!
Hi folks. Managed to cut the grass, and do the washing up, using cheap disposable polythene gloves designed for painting etc. Also made a "finger sock" to stop the bandage getting disgustingly mucky... I knew there must be a use for OH's odd socks.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I’m still lazing in bed at 7.40 am, but have been reading all the comments. We managed to watch some old recordings which were taking up space, so avoided the big event. I expect today’s news will be full of it though. 😡 I wish they’d get on with proper news.
Our weather has been very good too. Cool mornings and lovely sunny days of about 17 to so. On the TV, it looked similar to the London weather.
Im still aching from the injection so have been taking things slowly. I’ve managed to avoid pain killers except for that day in Canberra where I had to beg the waitress in the Turkish, where we had a wonderful lunch, for a Panadol.
I thought Prince Philip looked as if he had a black eye. Obelix , did you get back from the shower to find him still going? I was waiting for the hallelujahs to start.
