@Purplerain  I know what you mean about "little ones". When my granddaughter comes to stay she has two aged 4 and 2. As much as I enjoy having them by the end of the week I am exhausted.
@AnniD. Hope you get your plants out this weekend. As yet I haven't come across vine weevil and wouldn't know it if I saw it. Will have to look at any poorly plants. I have a lot to learn. Must admit since joining this forum I have learnt such a lot and can name so many plants although there are still some I have which as yet I can't name!
@granma You beat me to it! I was going to ask Philip how he was getting on with his new glasses.
@Valley Gardener I think Purplerain would have aching arms with hoeing. I did have them as well but I get down and pull each one out individually. I never find hoeing as satisfying. Maybe I do it wrong but I can still see the weeds afterwards even though they have been pulled out. Do hope you saw my compliments in a previous post about your beautiful painting of Morwenna.
@nultyphilip224. My Neem oil arrived today. Didn't get a litre like I thought but 250mls.
The order had 250mls (or 1 litre). There didn't seem to be anywhere to order that much but can't complain as what I got is sufficient and cheap enough. £6.50 plus postage and prompt delivery. Looking forward to using it. Slugs and snails beware.

Today was a perfect day for gardening. Mild, sunny and no wind. Then I realised I had a hair appointment. :(  Tomorrow hopefully will be as good. Barometer gone right over to "dry'. Believe that more than the weather forecasters.
Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.
  • Trust me to get it wrong!   Haven't even had a G+T either!!😊

  • Hi Folks,
@Fran IOM ,..you really are doing well seeing only 1 Slug,..before you start using the Neem Oil,..oh boy you did even better than i thought with 250mls plus P@P and all for £6.50,..just think i paid £11.50 for 100mls,..i could take you shopping with me,..i was in the local Pharmacy and bought just 4 items,..£84.00  :'( 1 Scissors,..Deodrant,..Voltarol and Aramis After Shave),..i should have known the Aramis was costly seeing the assistant called for the key to unlock a glass case,..£52 for just 2.0 FL Oz,..i had not purchased it for some time as i was given some last Christmas and the one before.

Ah yes the Hydrangea Colourant does work,..i used approx 2 Tablespoons full and buried them just below the soil surface,..my pink Hydrangea was Blue that year,..the following year as well,..but the third year they were a sort of mauve,..i need to revive them this year.

Methinks i have your Wood Pigeons lol,..must be the After Shave.

@AnniD,..i seem to be very lucky having few pests attacking my plants,..no Vine Weevil,..perhaps all down to my use of Vine Weevil Stuff ( technical description ) lol.

The most destructive creature i had was a Cutter Bee,..destroyed every leaf on a rose bush and had started on another when i whacked it with my Baseball Cap.

The usual Snails and Slugs are not to be seen,..i presume because i started disposing of them early in Feb.

@Purplerain,..Lupins are a great attraction for Slugs and Snails so i can well imagine yours were nibbled,..so far mine are clear of attack as are the Delphiniums,..touch wood,..though as i recall it was those very small Snails that were the attacker on mine,..they hid under the leaf so remember to spray there,..oh i was in the Hardware Shop today and they have the NEW 'All Natural,.Slug Stop Pellets,..non toxic/rain resistant/long lasting/safe to use around pets and children and wildlife,..£9.95,..its called 'HYGEIA SLUG STOP',..www.hygeia.ie

@granma,..i must admit i am very pleased with your Hellebore 'Pink lady',..with the starting bloom and now the yellowish colour.

Oh i noticed you mentioned my glasses,..lol,..i am getting along fairly well,..its taking some getting used to,..looking through framed glass,..ok i can see better which is great,.. not seeing double is fantastic,..i had to return to the Opticians to get the tabs changed as the glasses were slipping down my nose all the time,..so improving all the time,..i noted that several members were curious as to how i was faring out with the glasses lol,..i am laughing because it could be you wanted to see a shot of the glasses lol,..when i can convince myself that it is me i am looking at when i took images,..i find it hard to accept its me,..when i do i will provide a shot  :).

    'Whisper',..who watches me very seriously.

Foxy Molly is really interested in something else,..during the visit to the Park today.

The Amaryllis 'Royal Red',..today,..now there are 4 blooms to open.

    Not fully opened yet.

    I agree @Valley Gardener
Today l am celebrating my 21st birthday (plus the rest !), and have been given a fair few National garden gift vouchers. OH asked what l am going to get with them as we are planning a trip to Webbs of Wychbold in a few weeks. Top of the list is the vine weevil destroyer stuff (technical description).  He commented that it's a pity nature didn't design hedgehogs that ate vine weevils as well as slugs etc. There's a thought ! Have been out in the garden in the absence of a romantic break and George Clooney being otherwise engaged. Hope everyone else is having fun !

Happy Birthday @AnniD! I hope you enjoy your day.💐

    The Amaryllis is lovely @nultyphilip224
No chance for me in the garden today. This rain just does not want to stop. I have seen two episodes of the Edible Garden now, and enjoyed it, but that is as close to gardening as I am going to get today.

Thank you @Purplerain and @Valley Gardener ! Obviously l was so perfect that my mum only had the one. She has a form of dementia, you can hold a conversation with her but 2 minutes later she will have forgotten, and she asks the same question more than once. I spoke to her earlier and she asked what l was up to, dad reminded her it was my birthday, and l said " l think you were there" to which she really laughed, it was lovely.  :)
I have been out in the garden (surprise !) , planting a rose, michaelmas daisies and achillea, also split a geum and replanted. My blackbird friend came searching for worms, and the birds were singing. Came in to find OH making a cup of tea, and a cream bun to go with it. So in spite of the absence of George Clooney (his loss), l am enjoying the day. Thanks again  :)
