Phlox 'Windsor',..the parent plant as it is today.
Cuttings from that plant. some were taken last season others taken in Feb this year,..not much difference in size,..they were removed from the greenhouse yesterday.
@nultyphilip224 . Yes it's amazing how much you can get done it you have a reasonable day, well done! Can almost smell the Phlox! And the Amarylis is stunning! I think my shopping must stop now,and wait till I can see what will reappear! That's more exciting than buying, but now all my spaces are filled! OH won't allow pots on the terrace! There's just room for the bench and two deckchairs, possibly three!! You have to have a comfy place to admire the flowers!😁

@nultyphilip224 , that amaryllis is a beautiful colour. I have to admit that I am not so keen on the phlox colour though - l have white ones that l got from mum's garden when she had to give up gardening. I have labelled them "Mum's white phlox" , took me ages to think of a name @Fran IOM, nice bargains there !. I know what you mean about the hanging basket chains, l have a pile rusting away somewhere. Maybe l could turn them into some kind of feature. Re: the heuchera, l would just say check the pot for vine weevil grubs (here speaks the voice of experience). They are susceptible to grub damage. I bought one many years ago that looked really healthy, then when l came to plant it out lo and behold, there were the grubs. You should have heard the language, l was using words l didn't know l knew, scrabbling around in the soil trying to make sure l had every last one. This was when they'd only just been discovered and there was a lot of publicity around, so luckily l knew what they were. Anyway, time to get on. Have a good day everyone, whatever you are up to
Morning everyone. I have just been watching the edible garden and looking out of the window wondering will it won't it rain? I am still going to get out regardless.
The Amaryllis is stunning Philip. What a busy time of year this is with potting on, weeding and the million other things we need to do. Love it!
Good morning to all. Lovely sunshine here but possible rain forecast for later. Will get on with things on the allotment even if I have to take my brolly. Sometimes I can shelter in the shed if it's only a shower. Also watched the Edible Garden but what a lot of sugar! Seeing the sun fills you with enthusiasm so had better get on with other jobs first. Hope to hear of all your garden activities later....
Hi Folks,..you do make me laugh out loud at some of the statements you make,..just now it was @AnniD,..who wrote,.. my Mum gave me some White Phlox,..i have labelled them ''Moms White Phlox'',..took me ages to think of a name
It is remarks like that that set me off
@Valley Gardener,..great to hear your not going to purchase any more plants as all your spaces are full,..well done,..watching what will come up and bloom is great fun.
Nice to see everyone is having better weather,..there is an urgency to get everything done and if the weather is bad we think we will never catch up,..my day was a dull day with a bit of a chill but i managed to do everything i had in mind,..one thing was to check were there any of the Cranes Bill Geranium Roots pushed above the surface,..sure enough there were four,..gave them a little soaking then replanted them,..found three wee Lily bulbs above the surface as well and planted them as well.
Took Foxy Molly on a walk in a northerly direction along the river today. The river is very high,..those are seats one can just about make out.
Water on both sides of the walkway.
My Pieris japonica 'Mountain Fire',..which i removed from the back garden last week to the front of the house,..no ill effects.
Morning @nultyphilip224. Love the photos of the pieris, l haven't had one of those for years. I do have an empty pot down the bottom of the garden , do you think one would be happy in a pot ? That river level is very high, we have no rain forecast for at least 10 days which is worrying so early in the year. Went to see the Severn bore earlier this week, haven't been for years. Totally ruined for me by the number of surfers and boats, l could hardly see the bore itself. Years ago, you could see (and hear) it roaring up the estuary and appreciate the power of nature, not any more. Glad to hear l make you smile, thanks for the compliment, the rant above has probably ruined my "happy go lucky" image now ! @Valley Gardener, if l had a pound for every time l said, "That's it, no more plants", l would be a very rich woman. My OH dreads going to shows like Malvern or GW Live. I go into the Floral Marquee, promising him that l will buy just three plants, l know what l want, yes l promise, and emerge at the other end with three bags full (or more). I just don't know what happens between the entrance and the exit.🙄 @Fran IOM, hope you didn't need your brolly and got lots of work done at the allotment . Anyway, must get on sun is shining and the garden calls. Food has gone from inside the hedgehog feeding station so l am off to check the camera. Have a good day everyone
Good morning. Hope you all have the sunshine. A promising week I believe. @nultyphilip224. My Pieris Japonica is also showing signs of life along with the Aubretia and noticed even the Bergenia is flowering. Things seem to happen over night. Regarding the Neem oil does this sound right for the mixture? 1 tsp oil to one third tsp of washing liquid in 1 litre of water? Searched the forum and found that but seems very fiddly. I must put Voltarol on my shopping list. Sounds like the perfect answer. Will heed your instructions as to how to use it. My hydrangeas are budding nicely so will wait to see what colour they produce. I know it sounds bad but I can't remember what colour they were last year! That's the beauty of taking photos. You don't have to rely on your memory. Some beautiful walks around your way so Foxy Molly is very lucky. Was she a rescue dog? I seem to remember you mentioning she had a bad start in life @Valley Gardener. Like Anni said I can't imagine you not buying any more plants even if you can't think of a space for them. I had no intention of buying plants when I went to look at the hanging baskets and then because I had an empty trolley I had to fill it with something. That's my excuse. @AnniD. My Heuchera seemed in good shape. I think it was reduced just because it had a couple of dead leaves but the centre was quite healthy. Planted it out yesterday and there was no sign of any bugs so will wait and see how it progresses. Hope you have some interesting results on your camera. @Purplerain. The amount of sugar they used in the Edible Garden would take me months to get through under normal usage. Just love her two hens and would love some myself but must stick to the gardening. Had a really good time in the allotment yesterday in the sunshine. Got some more weeding and tidying up done. Found a nice juicy worm for my blackbird so he was happy. Sat in the sun for ten minutes and then down came the rain. Perfectly timed. No rain forecast for today so hopefully more tasks completed by the end of the day.
Enjoy your day. Must get on to allow more time for gardening.
A lovely walk along the river @nultyphilip224, I have one here, but too much of a hill to get back up! There are miners trucks every so often along the way,so we never forget the accidents and hardships of them. The pebbles and stones in the river are still very black. @AnniD when we came here almost two years ago there was a Pieris in a pot,and it was very unhappy, despite the big pot,so I wouldn't pot one if I were you. What about a Hosta? I've put one in a big pot with gravel around, plus pellets of course, and it's just started to poke through,I know it's gone for winter, but just a thought. @Fran IOMand@Purplerain totally agree,we will never stop buying in Garden centres, there's always a space somewhere!! I think I'll put the Delphs somewhere to disguise the bit of dry stone wall building that we did, where it has fallen down!!! Not very good at wall building, and a fortune to get someone experienced in to do it!! Off to uncover the baby geraniums now!!! Have a lovely day all.

I'm afraid my washing basket is full! Too much gadding about! But hoping to make it to the garden between whites and darks!!!😕
