Hi Folks,..i am keeping my eye on my Amaryllis 'Royal Red',..of the four blooms two of them are at the same stage the other two slower to mature,..all are changing daily.
Came across a Fresh Water Mussel along the river,..opened it but no Fresh Water Pearl sigh.
Primroses 'Primula vulgaris',.. are in bloom in the garden.
The two Pigeons are reunited.
I have four Hydrangea,..all of them in containers and were located under my bedroom window,..this year i decided to move two of them to the end of the garden as they were not getting enough watering when it rained as its sheltered at the bedroom window.
The two remaining at the window,..one is Mophead Hydrangea 'Pink' the other is 'Blue',..the latter used to be Blue but i used Hydrangea Colourant to add to the soil some years ago.
The other two Hydrangea now at the end of the garden one is Mophead Hygrangea Pink,..the other is a Lace Hydrangea Mauve,..interesting to see the two at the end of the garden are not as fully leafed as the two near the house.
Near the house.
At the end of the garden,..Mophead.
Lace.
Geraniums,..the tall ones are the parent plant,..the small ones are cuttings and have rooted.
It will be interesting to see the daily progress of the Amaryllis @nultyphilip224 . At first I though the mussels were an old bra you had picked up on the beach 😀 but I get it now. Pity there was nothing inside. Everything else is looking really healthy, including the wood pigeons.
I am babysitting tonight and just got the wee guy down. He is 3 and I am exhausted. Everything is why?why? why?
Managed to do a small amount in the garden after my walk. We had a new lady join (81) so I said I would walk with her. Never again! I had to hold her back from overtaking the leaders! And here was me expecting a slow paced meander. She is lovely though and I hope I am the same at her age. Off to tidy up and an early night for me. Take care.

Lol,..i have found just about everything else in the past few years,..an old Bra would be new lol,..i found a brand new fishing reel valued at approx 100 euro,..i thought that was good until i found a new Life jacket still in its plastic bag,..i already have four Life jackets though all are good,..full body types,..the one i found is just worn across the chest,..it has a gas cylinder which inflates the jacket by pulling a cord,..valued over 100 euro,..i always find things when away boating,..the river is 360 km long so one can cover a lot of water.
As its coming up to 11.00 i guess your ordeal of babysitting is nearly over,..i am no good with children,..i can only last about half an hour then i want to escape,..i'm ok with pets though lol.
Mentioning the new lady who joined the group being a good walker and you had to hold her back reminds me of a friend who lives a few mile away,..he asked me would i mind taking my holiday in Spain at the same time as his Mother,..if i agreed i could stay at her Apartment,..the Apartment was great,..two story with a balcony on each level and with a sea view,..it was his Mother who was 80 years old who rushed from one location to another while i tend to walk fast myself but not when on holiday trying to enjoy the sights,..it spoiled the holiday to the extent i took another holiday 3 days after coming home.
Hello @nultyphilip224 - your yellow wild flowers are beautiful. I think they are Coltsfoot, which has the rather interesting botanical name Tussilago farfara. Tussilago means "acts on coughs", and it used to be a "kill or cure" treatment for bronchitis in the "good old days"... You can just see a tiny leaf in one of your photos. They grow after the flowers have died down, and as children we'd use the leaves as disposable tissues when we had a cold, because they are thick and soft, with a felted underside. (Also useful when caught short in the countryside!)
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Hi @Liriodendron,..I am sure you are correct with them being Coltsfoot 'Tussilago farfara',..very interesting information as well,..kill or cure treatment,.. oh boy,..the area they are growing in is an extension to the local park and ends up in the countryside along the river,..i have never come across them before,..i must carry some in my pocket .
The Hellebore 'Pink Lady',..has changed its blueish colour to a sort of yellow,..still as pretty with the change.
Hi to all @nultyphilip224 Managed just over an hour on the allotment yesterday. Haven't seen any snails yet and only found one very small slug. They must be waiting somewhere in hiding. Hopefully they will go hungry once I have used the Neem oil. Last year they ate into the stems so that they fell over. Do you use it on many plants? Moved a couple of Photinias to try and make a better arrangement and achieved quite a lot of weeding. It makes it all worth while when you see the ground free of weeds. I am surprised at how few weeds have grown on other parts that I have weeded but the warmer weather will probably bring them out in abundance. Your Amaryills is doing well and soon we shall be able to see it in its full beauty. My primroses have never stopped flowering. Looks like my wood pigeons have gone to visit you! Does that Hydrangea Colourant work? We haven't seen Foxy Molly or Whisper just lately. Hope they are both well. Sorry about the "no pearl"! @Purplerain Hope you enjoy the episode of The Edible Garden.
Morning everyone @nultyphilip224 , just wondered, with all the pots you have, do you ever have problems with vine weevil? I emptied out a pot from my mother in law's garden that had a euonymus in it. It looked pretty sick, the leaves had been nibbled, and sure enough there were the little grubs. I sorted through my pots in the coldframes yesterday, and 2 small geums and a scabious had been got at, although everything else seemed okay as far as l could tell. It seems a bit like Russian roulette! I am going to get as much planted as I can this weekend, and probably get some vine weevil destroyer stuff (technical description) for the rest.
@AnniD I have never had much of a problem with vine weevil, but today in the cold frame I noticed a lupin looking nibbled, so I will check them over and get some of your vine weevil destroyer stuff if necessary.
@nultyphilip224, I really laughed at you needing another holiday after spending time with your friends mother. Like you, I find animals so much easier to deal with than small children. My own grandchildren seem to find a way with me and I enjoy them, but not for more than one overnight at a time.
@Liriodendron, that was interesting about the coltsfoot. I have seen them on sand dunes and now I know what to do if I have a runny nose 😀.
@Fran IOM I agree that a bit of weeding makes everything so much better. I hope you get the better of any slugs or snails.
I managed some hoeing today and have bought in some cheap Lidls compost for conditioner that I will add some fish blood and bone to with grit. I will get that into the ground before emptying the cold frame hopefully this weekend.
The pink lady does seem to change colours more than any other hellebore. I enjoy them most at this stage of colour as yours is now . if anyone uses them as a dried flower arrangement (as l do the others ..... . become papery ) these don't dry as good.
@nultyphilip224 .Interesting pics! I love the empty shell you found, everything growing well including the fat pigeons, haven't seen ours for a couple of days. We have Goldfinches to the feeders now, after 18 months, with only Robins,Tits and Sparrows,so big excitement in our house, especially as they returned the next day. I bought 3 Poppies from Asda,White ones called Royal Wedding and planted them today,I had no luck with the seeds last year,I think the slugs got them,so I will collect seeds from these, and sow them next year. The Amarylis is coming on well,I can't wait to see it fully in bloom. @Fran IOM You've been busy on your allotment, yes the primrose have been long flowering, hope you haven't got aching arms after the hoeing! But how great to be able to be outside after the awful weather last week.😊
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
