@Purplerain , Wet and cold here again today though i did manage to get into the garden to check on the growth progress,..then it was back inside to a warm fire.
I don't blame you disliking the ice,..one starts walking cautiously then you get confident and before you know it you are sitting on your rump,..i was there lol,..i had just come out of the Chinese take away and my feet flew in the air i landed on the bunch of keys in my back pocket,.. ouch,.. a lady on the other side of the road asked was i ok,..i was stunned of course and my only reply was,..i think i spilled my Curry Sauce,..the remainder of my purchase was still intact,..King Prawn/Bamboo Shoots/Egg Fried Rice/Water Chestnuts/,..i wont forget that day in a hurry lol.
Magpies pulling up the labels on @Fran IOM ,..i never thought of that and can well picture them doing so,..those Magpies have a personality that's worth watching.
Oh i envy you the Cosmos,..well worth having in a garden Cranberry and Antiquity,..i had Cosmos some years back and loved them.
Lol i knew i would get a reaction about the 'Clarke Kent look',..it did hit me that i will appear different from next week,..i have often heard people remark,..oh i didn't know you with the glasses,..so its goodbye from me below,..hello to the him next week,..hopefully with some extra powers lol
I've given up with permanent markers on my plant labels. It's so frustrating when your carefully-labelled seed tray becomes anonymous, and you have to guess what you've sown... so now I use pencil, which definitely doesn't wash off, or fade.
So pleased your eyes are getting sorted, Philip. Hopefully Foxy Molly will still recognise you in the new Clark Kent specs! You'd think eye muscle exercises ought to be possible... good luck with finding some.
Gorgeous Hellebore photos again! Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi @Liriodendron,..that's a great tip about the pencil not washing off or fade,..i will go for that for certain,..thank you.
When i finish posting here in GW i will look up eye muscle exercises,..there has to be some,..ah lol Foxy Molly will study me for some time when i wear the Clarke Kent Specs,..i was watching other customers trying on glasses to see did they suit their faces so when it was suggested i follow the Optician to do likewise i was suddenly embarrassed,..i just asked for something i can see with,..she wasn't having that so i had to try a few pair,..that;s when the influence of the garden came through,..i choose a pair with a very thin green stripe in the design,..hope i don't regret that.
@nultyphilip224 I haven't a clue what some of my plants are! I have tried to tie them up with the labels I have but not much luck. When the summer arrives I may have a better idea when they are flowering. I am trying to be a bit more methodical now. If you google "glasses for exercising the eyes" there are pictures there. A lot of my photos from the past are black and white but still good reminders. Weather today so disappointing. Started off quite reasonable so thought it would be a good gardening day and then the wind picked up and down came the rain once again. Those views are beautiful and Foxy Molly couldn't be excluded. Really enjoyed watching those videos. Amazing the work he does. Enjoy the heat from your fire. If it's as cold as here you will need it. @Purplerain @Liriodendron. There are a couple of magpies I sometimes see around so maybe they are the culprits. Have gone off them of late when I heard they had killed a pet rabbit but suppose it's their instinct. Never thought of using pencil as I thought that would immediately wash off. Will do that in future. Was using marker pen covered with clear nail varnish but even that didn't work. Nothing more frustrating than picking up a blank label. Sometimes you get labels with the plants which do survive the weather. Must see if I can get any cosmos seeds if it's not too late. Always liked them. Now over a week since I could do any gardening and the weekend forecast doesn't seem any better.
@sambigdeer,..very nice to hear from you,..i always get the feeling that you are out there looking in and viewing my countryside walks with the new dog 'Foxy Molly' who is getting along greatly despite her poor start,..must be the outdoors lol.
Yep living for the official start of Spring and all that it will show,..delighted to know that things are ok in Florida,..give my best to any of the friends you are in touch with in the Stew,..a few look in here as well.
Sam thank you for the best wishes and prayers with the visual problem,..i am confident all will be well soon.
@Fran IOM,..it can be a big drawback not knowing the names of the plants one has,.. though i fall down with names for my rose bushes,..some were given to me with no name,..others were cuttings from a no name bush,..some others were produced from seed and were in no way a resemblance to either parent bush and never registered but given a name by fellow gardeners,..the best system seems to be that gun and sticky backed tape where one indents the print onto the tape.
Oh i have looked at eye exercises and have started doing some,..many are simple and can be done during a break from the computer,..one gets some great tips in Gardenersworld .
I just finished the video below tonight,..its just lazy days along the river,..there are now new EEC rules on using background music,..strict copyright rules that if infringed can have the video removed,..i had just one since 2004 which is not bad though the video was just removed then notification was given,..luckily i had the project saved on my computer and so the pictures could be used again with different music to which i have the licence to use.
Beautiful pics of cats and flowers @philipnulty! I 've just had a read of all the latest from everyone on here. Very interesting. This week I had my old videos VHS,put on to DVD, some were so sad. My parents at my daughter's wedding......which only lasted 2 years, our four rescue cats, one of which was called Casey,we were heartbroken when she had a stroke, and had to be PTS. After viewing to the end,my husband said I wish we'd never seen that!!!
Yesterday between showers,I planted my bargain Clems, which had masses of roots, the purple I planted to grow up with Rescue rose,as her bottom is unsightly! The other one which is red,I've put near Josephine,as her blooms are soon over. I had to buy a new Aloe Vera,as mine got top heavy and the leaves broke off,so got a short fat South African one, plus cacti compost! Ouch!! That hurt at the till. I keep one in case of burns or cuts.
It looks like another day in the studio (spare bedroom)😉 painting Easter cards for the church raffle! I have two more commisions,a cat and someone's guinea pigs! The cat is an 80 year old man's companion, called Morwena.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
@nultyphilip224 , no luck with the plant feed or the clematis that l went to have a look at. No sign of either. However a look in the garage when l got home revealed a large (unopened) bottle of tomato feed and at least half a bottle of seaweed feed that l bought last year. Didn't say anything to OH, just carried on walking round with a sad face . As for the clematis, l bought one last year from Tesco for the princely sum of £2.50. It put on a lovely show and has loads of healthy buds again. I think a visit to the supermarket may be on the cards in a week or two. @Valley Gardener those old videos can bring back very bittersweet memories can't they?

Two more from dividing last Summer,..the one in my hand is Heuchera 'palace purple,..the other is Heuchera 'melting fire'.
Oxalis debilis 'shamrocks pink',..i think its also named Wood Sorrel.
Its in both of the side containers.
Not in bloom now,..but when it is,..as below.
