Gosh! That could've been very very nasty,as you say, what a good thing you didn't have your hand in there! Very lucky. yes Im taking it just a few minutes at a time, with lots of looking at how things are progressing in between. Our cats jump into a warm space on the sofa as soon as one is vacated, then look hurt when you ask them to move. My friends cat "Boris" has been put to sleep,we are all very upset.

@Valley Gardener. So sorry to hear Boris had to be put to sleep. Your friends have that beautiful portrait of him so have a constant reminder although they would never forget him.
That is so beautiful, you have a lot of water around you,is the river in flood? I meant to say how lovely that Hellebore is,it's a gorgeous colour. I looked at them in B+Q and the prices were pretty hefty,so as there were only white ones I gave it a miss! It's funny how most of the spring/winter flowers are white and yellow. I've got Arabis in bloom, and would love some purple Aubretia,as mine is all white! But I will have to be quick I think,as the white is almost out!!😊

@Valley Gardener,..i am surrounded with water,..the river flows one side of me and the canal on the other,..the canal starts on the north side of me,..flows in a half circle around the west of me and then meets the river on the south side,..we are in flood just now though the river had dropped to normal level during the past two weeks its risen again in the past two days.
I am always amazed at the prices of plants,..i disposed of nearly all my Aquilegia,..over 100 plants,..nobody wanted them so they were dumped,..boy was i shocked to see the price of just one so i can well believe the high price you spotted on the Hellebore.
You mentioned Aubretia,..my Mother always had Purple Aubretia,..i started keeping it as well but then changed over to Purple Campanula,..looks great and multiplies easily enough.
Yes that Hellebore is very nice though it is at its best much later than my others,..the Hellebore Double Ellen 'Picotee' is at its best today.
I was doing some gardening today,..until the rain arrived,..managed to prune a few rose bushes and all of my Hydrangeas as well,.. cut down half of my very tall Fuchsia,..sprayed the paths with a mix of Bleach and Liquid Soap,..began sorting out plants stored in the greenhouse over winter and increased my Geranium Stock,..one or two of the latter i keep indoors and of course they get a tad leggy but this is the main reason i have them indoors as i take about 6 cuttings which reduces them to a reasonable height plus i have the bonus of cuttings,..i will keep the latter in water for a spell then dip them in rooting powder and pot them.
Darn it!! I wish I'd done that!! My neighbour and I swapped some Aubretia,we both have the dry stone walls, and she didn't have white. Yes I have the campanula, that's handy to split up. I managed to get hold of some Aguilegia seeds in very dark purple from the chaotic rubble of next door.......you could say another rescue!!😀 Rugby calls!! Come on Ireland!!!!

@Valley Gardener,..Lol they must have heard you during the Rugby match seeing they won,..when you look at how Rugby is played in Europe and compare it to how the same game has changed to what is now named the NFL in America,..with helmets and so much padding protection,..its hard to believe it was all Rugby without helmets and padding at the beginning.
I used to love seeing my Aquilegia appear every year to see the changes,..it took two years before any 'Nora Barlow' appeared and they transformed in to different colours as well,..no doubt they are a stunning plant,..i had far too many they were everywhere,..i can well imagine they dropped many seeds while i was pulling mine up and so many young ones will appear this year and it will be interesting to see the new cross breeds.
Where have I been I ask myself lol? So much to catch up on here. Lovely pic of the Double Ellen Red @nultyphilip224. I don't have much luck with Aquilegia although it's a lovely plant.
I am so sorry to hear about Boris @Valley Gardener . I did not get your pm unfortunately. I think you are supposed to type@ and then begin the name and tap on it when it comes up.
I got the heated propagator out and started some Tumbling Toms. I did them last year and got pounds and pounds of them, so hoping for the same again this year. Will go back now and read all the posts.
