Lovely Pulmonaria, Philip. Mine is scarcely in bud yet - but something to look forward to. Oranmore is now too expensive for us to afford a house there. It's firmly in the commuter belt for Galway; daughter & son-in-law bought their house 3 years ago, since when it has increased in value around 50%... we fancy living in County Clare, near Loch Derg. An hour away from the grandchildren which is near enough to be useful but not so close to be a nuisance! Lots of cheap houses in little towns, the garden of the one we're looking at, nothing but grass... until I get my hands on it...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
@Liriodendron,..It won't be long before yours start blooming,..Feb is close.
Gosh i didn't realise how house prices went up so high in Oranmore,..15 years ago there wasn't much there,..how time flies.
I like your thinking,..Clare is an hour away but near enough to be useful,..not so close to be a nuisance,..i will keep my fingers crossed house wise for you,..with a decent garden as well
More of the 'New York Asters',..getting lots of early mists but no rain fall.
It is very mild here in South West Scotland @nultyphilip224. I have noticed over the years that as soon as the crocus bloom we get snow. I expect some of the plants coming up will get nipped by frost and snow, but that's gardening I suppose. We still have a long way to go before the long warm days, but they will come (hopefully).
Thanks, Philip! We have our fingers crossed too... not sure what Br***t will do to the value of our ££s...
In the meantime I've just been out and sniffed the winter flowering honeysuckle. It's gorgeous! Not so pretty to look at as your asters and rose, Philip, but none the less welcome.
@Purplerain - when we lived in Northumberland we regularly had daffodils broken by snowfall in late March or early April. As you say, that's gardening for you...

@Purplerain,..i noticed a garden just up the road from me had Crocus well above the ground,..and by coincidence we had a very cold day,..probably the coldest day in Autumn or Winter,..fingers crossed we don't have a big drop in temperature,..i have not worn any of my Winter clothes as yet,..as you mentioned some of the plants coming into bloom now will be zapped by snow and frost,..i sometimes wonder how they don't realise that blooming now is not good timing,..after all they do know things about weather and seasons
@Liriodendron,..ah yes the changes in monetary value is something to watch but you can bet it will drop for a long spell before rising again,..wiser not to have all your eggs in one basket is a wise saying.
Winter flowering Honeysuckle,..a scent i can well remember,..i envy you having that in reality.
All i can offer is Sunrise images at 08.30hrs on the first doggy walk of the day,..there is a house in the image if one looks close.
Beautiful images @nultyphilip224, I've only got primroses in flower, but have cowslips in bud, some pink things with ball type flowers, and new growth on my montanas! Is it time to cut them down a bit?? Foxy Molly is looking pretty! I've been busy painting greetings cards for our church funds,so now just catching up on my favourite thread.😁
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Another very cold day here,..it was so cold and with a heavy mist this morning i was tempted to quit the early morning doggy walk after just 500 yards,..forced myself to continue for the dogs sake.
More Hellebore 'Double Ellen Picotee',..in bloom now but still on a small scale.
Hellebore 'Double Ellen Red',..are not yet in bloom,..almost there. Hellebore 'Niger-Christmas Carol-Bears Foot',..is blooming now and for some time.
Lupine that were divided in late summer are coming along great,..no attack by Slugs
Lupins shooting in Jan! Wow .You're much further ahead than us. I must get some Hellebores,at least it's something guaranteed to flower in winter. Can't wait for all my sprung bulbs to flower!

My Hellebores are beginning to bud at last @nultyphilip224, but I must attend to some of the tatty looking leaves. Now I am going to give you some advice Philip. Get some Winter clothes on for your walk with Foxy Molly😀.

Your Primroses and Cowslips are well in advantage compared to mine,..trying to place those pink ball like things?,..plus new growth on your Montanas you'r doing well to look like Spring in near.
My Perennial Sweet Pea are very green and produced quite a few inches of new growth so i had to make stronger supports this week.
