  • Ah,had to zoom in on Foxy Molly!
    Very smart Coleus Philip!

@Purplerain I have to say I think the same way as you,my porch is full of cuttings ready for next spring, the bulbs are all in except Tulips, and I'm planning next summers planting combinations, looking forward to new growth.

  • @Valley Gardener ,..thank you,..i keep the Coleus indoors from now until next Spring,..luckily there is just Foxy Molly,.. Whisper the cat and myself who have to walk around the plants :).

I was doing some housework this afternoon and discovered Foxy Molly had hidden from the noise of the Hoover,..in my bed,..she lifts up the covers with her head and heads down midway in the bed,..a shot below as she pops up.

Nice to see you are organized for next Spring,..plus your porch full of cuttings,..same here but still quite a bit to do with seed sowing before Spring.

In those big meadows i walk Foxy Molly i spotted a nice little flower last May,..only one of its kind around so as shortly the same area will be under water until next Spring or even later i too a trowel with me the following day,..dug it up and hoped the bulbs would produce growth,..well this week they started,..a tad early but there is hope.

    The Flower last May.
    Summer Snowflake 'Leucojum aestivum'.

Showing signs of life today,..three below though there should be two more.

Rose ( Rosa 'Korresia' ),..its got a strong scent,..rather spicy,..David Austin Rose.

I love when the sun hits the water as below.

Just before reaching this spot in the distance i could see a Cormorant sitting atop a navigation pole.

It is there every day i pass this pole and it has got so used to seeing me that today i managed to get to within 30 foot of it.

    The runner.

  • You live in such an unspoilt area @Philip I'm always entranced by the river and the wildlife there, always something to see. Beautiful flower pics,I would quite like a heavily scented rose.

  • @Valley Gardener ,..once i am about 200 yards from the house i am alongside the river,..one does not come across another house for many miles,..now and then another walker or fisherman,..its very peaceful,..one even gets friendly with the four legged critters,..nearly all male in these parts.

I might arrange for a Highly Scented Rose Bush to head in your direction :).

    Lovely Fringe.

Enjoyed this as always Philip. Strangely, last night some youtube options appeared below the video, so I clicked on the Papin sisters. Not the best choice at bedtime. Very creepy. Hope you are enjoying this lovely Autumn day, and Valley and Mary are too.

  • @Purplerain ,..thank you for viewing the video and delighted you enjoyed it.

Ah yes those options can be anything and nothing in relation to the video posted,..i wish they would get wise and realize we don't want them.

Finally the Swallows discovered it was 10 days into Autumn and have just flown towards Africa,..i hate to see them go as many won't make it,..its a long journey.

On the brighter side i am enjoying the nice Autumn sunshine and Autumn colours,..like below,..as far as i know the flowers below are Asters but which species?,..these grow in only two locations,.. beside the river and canal,..i presume they escaped from some barge or garden and have thrived in the wild.

Two years ago i took some rooted sections for my own garden and they came along great,..over three foot high and spreading as well.

    Mophead Hydrangeas still blooming.

    Lace Hydrangea,..without the middle section?

The aster is a flower that at this time of the year I get a chance to appreciate. Some are tall and pale, others dumpy and thick with deep purple blooms. A very varied species but most welcome.

Yes, Youtube is very random with its options. I don't mind though, it is one part of the internet that I still enjoy. I hope you have had a lovely day as I did visiting the V@A in Dundee. I think it is a marvellous building and has to be seen to be appreciated. As always, best wishes to wee Foxy and the gang.

Philip, are Tigridia hardy or do you overwinter them?
    Yours are beautiful.

  • @Joyce21 ,..hi Joyce,..they are classed as semi-hardy because they can be damaged at temperatures below -2C=28F,..one is advised to lift the bulbs where Winters are very cold.

However i never lift mine plus they are in two containers,..we had snow in 2010 then none again until 2018 plus my garden is like a micro climate being walled in.

Flowers are 8Cm to 15Cm/ 3Ins to 6Ins,..last for one day but they bloom in abundance when in a sunny spot.

Easy to grow from bulbs or seeds,..if you want i can send you some seeds.
