@Mary370 ,..happy you agree with me about the rose with no background,..were it a Water Lily it might have appeared fine,..floating there lol.
I use a Multi Purpose Liquid Plant Food,..'Grandiol',..once per week from March to October,..then once per Month in Winter,..i get this from LIDL every Spring,..1 Litre goes a long way as its a Capful per 5 Litres of water,..i never fail to apply this liquid and its good to use for indoor plants though its 1/2 a Capful to 5 Litres for indoors.
My soil is very good,..its not clay but a mix of Peat and Sand,..not applied by me,.. its like that everywhere around here.
I never dig the garden i just add more soil on top or manure when i can get it.
Looks like Autumn as from yesterday with the leaves starting to fall from trees,..and rose bushes.
Peat and sand seems to be the magic mix. You are lucky with that, but being a passionate gardener must help. I will look out for Grandiol too Philip. I can't believe that you have such a lovely range of plants still going strong.
@Purplerain ,..when they were building the houses where i live soil from close to the river was used to level off the area,..its certainly good stuff.
LIDL have two types of Liquid Plant Food,..the one i get is below,..they also do one that is Organic,..Seaweed mix plus,..i get about half a dozen each year which is enough,..i still have one i just opened.
I still have lots of blooms appearing though they will be getting scarcer very soon.
I have had a partial mooch through your thread Philip and enjoyed it thoroughly. Just seen you lovely pictures of Clivia, and have you seen someone posted about theirs which has no petals but tons of stamens, wonder if you have any ideas or come across it. Agree about the mouth watering snapdragon, and I used to eat the lemon sweets too.
@Rubytoo ,..delighted you enjoyed the mooch through the thread,..love that 'mooch' word,..i hope you enjoyed those sweets as much as i did
Ah yes that post re the Clivia,..which turned out not to be a Clivia but a plant named Haemanthus-albiflos/Scadoxus albiflos,..( Common Name,..Paintbrush ) unusual appearance and the common name is very apt.
About my own Clivia,..just measured it,..now at 80 Cm/32 inches wide and 46Cm/18 inches high and going strong,..hoping it will bloom again this year.
I had three Lupines and decided to divide them,..managed to make 12 cuttings,..the space i cleared of about 100 Crocosmia Lucifer will be where they take up residence.
One Lupine certainly had its roots dug in.
As for this,..doesn't look much.
However there is a nice shoot on the side,..touch wood life come from this.
Yes the paintbrush plant Your Clivia beats my mothers, though she kept hers small she was always generous giving bits away, they are nice cheerful blooms too.
@Rubytoo ,..your Mother was generous indeed,..so far i have not altered mine since the seeds arrived,..two big seeds arrived from Massachusetts USA,..both grew plants,..one still classed as small compared to the huge one,..the latter has three plants in its pot though the pot is big enough to house them i still get the urge to divide,..resisting that.
Foxy is such a poser and a very happy little dog. Where are you thinking of going Philip? We have had lovely weather these last few days, but previous to that we had a lot of rain. The weeds are easy to pull up in the damp soil with the sun on my back. Very unusual for mid October. I have heard the coming Winter could be a bad one though. Lets hope not.

Thinking of Malta,..i was there twice,.. also to the island of Gozo,..expensive compared to Majorca or Mainland Spain but the weather in Spain during the last few days was lots of rain and bad floods,..here in Ireland in the Midlands its sunny,..we had one day of rain certainly no floods,..i am heading off on my own so i can follow my nose as the saying goes,..many places are not in consideration these days for many reasons,..it looks like Malta at the moment but not certain,..any of the three below would be a runner but for the weather there.
