  • Great pics Philip, love the fungi. You should get your watercolours out 😉
Nothing except waterboatmen in the pond so far,but I have hopes for the spring.there are rocks coming out of it,so creatures can get out.
Yes,there's no stopping me now!! I was so frustrated not being able to post pics! I have an Amazon Fire 10.  I use it mainly for emails, and the screen is big enough to use for any Arty bits!!

@nultyphilip224. Great pics. Just to let you know VG has put her portrait of Tarw on his own thread. She just needs to add his whiskers.

  • @Purplerain,..thank you for telling me that @Valley Gardener has finished and posted the portrait of 'Tarw',..its a work of art.
A No Id rose but one i really like due to the odd streak of white it produces.

  • A beautiful rose Philip,pink and red,is it a special one?

  • @Valley Gardener,..special but not of a romantic nature :),..it was given to me when i moved into the cottage almost 15 years ago,..it was moved around in the garden twice and its possible one more time.

Moving things around garden wise in the last few days,..its a must now before Spring arrives in just under 8 weeks ( Traditional Spring here starts on 1st of Feb ).

At the bottom of the garden in one corner there is a VERY tall 'Fuchsia magellancia',..probably around 480 cm/16 ft,..every year i cut it back by around 120 cm/4 ft,.. but by mid Summer it has reached its previous height,..granted it produces a massive amount of blooms however it covers quite a wide space as well as height,..i feel its time to dispose of it,..sadly as i hate doing so,..it did act as a sort of woodland condition for my 'Hellebore' plants,..like the big one below which i removed.

When its in bloom,..Helleborus orientalis 'Double Ellen picotee'

Easy to remove this plant and the others but i will need a saw plus a pick and shovel to remove the Fuchsia,..backache in the making of course lol.
  • What a shame about the Fuchsia, mine also takes up a lot of room, despite the severe prune it gets in the late Autumn!
Lovely pics,I can't wait to see the spring flowers, the bulbs are shooting already.I put in so many in Sept/Oct.

  • @Valley Gardener,..Its a battle we wont win,.. in my case i need the room for plants that will bloom but will take several years to start getting in the way,..i also have decided to dispose of my 'Mahonia japonica',..it produces a nice lot of blooms in mid Autumn into Winter,..however its as tall as the cottage and the leaves are prickly like Holly even when almost decayed,..i will make good use of the space here as well.

    Mahonia japonica.

Signs of Spring here as well with Daffodil bulbs showing shoots above the soil though the hardest days of Winter may well arrive before we have Spring,..touch wood its not a harsh spell.
  • It gets dark very early these days,..just coming up to 4'Oclock and the sun is setting,..walking the dog before Christmas Dinner seems like a good idea,..might get the dog to pull a Christmas Cracker with me lol.

  • @Purplerain,..Merry Christmas to you as well,..hope yours is going well and that you are enjoying the Christmas Goodies,..so far mine is going well,..a quiet house with just me and the dog with the cat just calling in for food and boy is there food aplenty,..cooked a ham just before Christmas and we ( dog and me ) ate it in four days,..today its planned to have the roast beef,..dinner for me is always in the evenings,..the usual problem for me with roasts is calculating the timing,..thankfully i have never overcooked but  under cooked which is fine,..just put it back for further cooking.

Lovely skies to be seen of late around here with calm water and sun trying to get through the clouds.
