    Gorgeous pictures,inspiration for painting!
Can't wait to get in the garden again today and plant my cheap little shrubs,Im taking a leaf from your book, and did a couple of cuttings from the Viburnum, but says not to do the Photina till end of summer.
Have a wonderful day and enjoy the lovely sunshine.😁

  • @Cagzo,..still enjoying the good weather here and getting outdoors away from home,..just me and the dog.

Meanwhile back in the garden the Aquilegia are producing blooms different to last year as usual.

The first bloom from the Geraniums.

    Hosta 'Elatior'.

    Hosta 'Patriot'.

    Hyacinthoides non-scripta 'Bluebells'

The daily doggy walk,..no traffic here,..unless there is a fishing competition.

Mahonia japonica producing fruits just now,..edible in a cereal though a tad bitter.

Lovely pics, the dog looks happy! I love the striped Aquilegia, still waiting for mine!
Is it a canal or river?

  • @Cagzo,..i know its hard to believe but our blooms are about a month ahead of yours,..i have a good friend in Scotland and she is in a similar state,..so not to worry about your Aquilegia just yet.

The happy dog is Foxy Molly,..a cross terrier,..i got her from a rescue center  nine months ago,..that was also the time i had to put down my dog of 13 years due to old age and numerous medical problems.

Oh that is the canal you see in those images and it leads to the river,..the River Shannon flows through the town in a 'U' shape and the canal links it from east to west,..so you could say i live on an island,..below is an image where the canal meets the river on the south end,..plus a short video which includes Molly the Tri-Coloured Springer,..my previous dog.

That was beautiful and very moving phillip. I hope your new dog gives you as much pleasure as Molly did.
    SW Scotland
  • @Purplerain,..thank you,..yes the new dog Foxy Molly has worked out very well and has become my shadow,..her previous owner developed Asthma so had to keep Foxy Molly in the yard where as before she was a house dog,..the owner felt guilty and put Foxy Molly up for re homing,..i was lucky to spot this on the internet and jumped at the chance to home her,..even the name seemed right,..she even wears Molly the Springer's ID Tag.

That was so beautiful, you live in a wonderful area,no wonder Frank Clarke paints so much in Ireland. Loved seeing Molly, your latest one looks like fun?

  • @Cagzo,..its certainly a very scenic area with river and lake so close to where i live,..the river is only about 200 yards away from the house,..i love it here though i am classed as a 'Blow In' lol,..being a City person i suppose my accent is a tad different and people who don't know me think i am here on holiday,..lots of wildlife and one can catch a train to Galway City or Dublin City and be there within the hour.

Oh i like the way Frank Clarke paints,..makes it look so easy,..nice scenes painted as well.

Foxy Molly has had a bad time from the day i picked her up from the Rescue,..while she was there she was attacked by a bigger dog on day before i was to collect her,..i convinced them that she would heal quicker with me as it would be less stressful,..what she looked like the day i took her home.

    30 stitches on August 25th.

    Four weeks later.

    ======================================================

Meanwhile back in the garden,..plants are growing at a very fast rate and very soon the paths through the garden will be reduced in size.

    Delphiniums,..Foxgloves,..Crocosmia.

Sedum on both sides of one path.

    The main path.

    A bend on the walk.

The paths are in the shape of an 'S'on its side with two nooks each side of a shed,..one nook below,

My tall containers near the back door.

    Inside looking out.

Lovely country garden, absolutely bursting with plants!lots of Lillies and geraniums too! I planted out my Cosmos this morning, now the very cold nights have passed,my Heuchera cuttings have new leaves at the base,so I presume this means they've taken.
Is that your black and white cat at the top bit?

What a difference in Foxy Molly, poor little pup, that was a nasty attack, she has a very "knowing" face, don't you think?

  • @Cagzo,..bursting with plants is right,..too many some say and at times i tend to agree,..in particular when i have seedlings to plant out,..finding a space is very difficult,..or if someone gifts me with a plant,..where on earth do i put it?,..then again it was what i set out to have so i shouldn't complain,..to be overwhelmed by plants was what i thought way back.

So your Cosmos are planted out,..you should have them in bloom around August/Sept,..the last time i had Cosmos was back in 2014,..really a nice bloom set off with that green wispy foliage.

You have won with the Heuchera Cutttings,..congratulations are in order when you have those new leaves showing.

My Cosmos are in the video below.

    https://youtu.be/WCDM5qTEWRo

    Sempervivium tectorum 'Hens and Chicks'.

    One Stem Yucca.

    Yucca alifolia 'Spanish Bayonet'.

Plectranthus madagascariensis,..also named Madagascar spurflower,..Variegated Mint.
