Glad to hear you had no damage.........the winds finished off my sunflowers and snapped my large patch of cosmos.  It was a pity as the cosmos had only recently tarted flowering and was smothered in buds.
Freckles is lovely and those chinese lanterns are great.

You were lucky Philip. My arch came down and snapped a few mature clematis. Never mind, I'm already thinking about what to replace it with. Maybe a wooden arbour type arch.

I don't know if you listen to Gardeners Corner from Ireland. I record it every week and find it very informative. I think they should come and visit you as you are so knowledgable and have so many gems throughout the seasons. I hope wee Foxy Molly is getting out for her walks again. Beautiful weather here now.

Sorry to see your garden was hit with that storm,..Sunflowers are quite something when in bloom sorry they were finished off and your Cosmos hit as well,..its a shock to see the damage after you looked after those plants,..not to fret nature does take back some of our work but we get stuck in again.

More of the Clematis Freckles,..its a small bloom but really comes into bloom in my garden at the end of Summer.

Lucky indeed when i read what damage was caused to others,..sorry to see you lost your Arch and damaged the Clematis,..if your going for a wooden Arch get a really strong one,..however a metal one might well last longer.

Ah Gardeners Corner,..i had forgotten about them as i tend to have music going when at home during the day,..i never miss a Gardeners World as i always learn something i didn't know,..gardening is a constant learning activity but i always remember what i was told by older gardeners working in the National Botanical Gardens,..about plants yes,..but they always said never criticize another gardeners way of doing things if they show good results,..make a suggestion about an easier way yes,..i suppose its just being polite really.

Foxy Molly is still getting her field walks,..runs like a rabbit when let off the lead,..but comes back when she hears me whistle.

  • Lavatera 'Baby Barnsley'.

Another year ends with my Coleus plants,..well the parent plant,..so i take cuttings now and they will last until this time next Autumn,..i have the same line of Coleus for several years doing this.

    A light pink,..alas no ID.

Philip, I forgot to tell you the geraniums have new growth!
It's great that you have the discipline to go out most/every day with foxy molly.
I have seeds for coleous.....must get on with planting them.
@Purplerain........sorry to hear about your arch and clemmies.

Yes, they do tend to argue. This week it was about gaps in privet hedges. It really it isn't another year ending..it's a new year beginning and seeing cuttings put down new roots always cheers me up.

  • @Mary370 ,..that's great news,..isn't that very quick,..rubbing my hands with glee here knowing my Geraniums have spread to Limerick :).

As the Autumn is here now,. the river Shannon will rise and rise until most of Foxy Molly's field walks will be flooded up to 90 Cm deep,..i can still give her some long walks though where she must remain on the lead,..i feel sorry for her as she thrives on her running through fields.

Lol,..i was a member of a Garden Forum in Ireland but i backed off when some Members told me they must pay a visit,..i hadn't given any invitations and i don't have enough time in a day to show people around,..i enjoy this time of year just because i can vision how i want the garden to look next Summer and start preparing now,..Lupines will play a big part next Summer,..providing my plans work out.
