That looks like a terrapin Philip. Poor we thing having to try and make it's own way in the world. Ask around if anyone has a landing net. It's not like we're short of anglers here.
Ah Terrapin,..forgot about them,..today i went to where it climbs out of the water on to the branch,..no sign of it,..it tends to remain close to that fallen tree and of course i had the feeling it wouldn't be seen today as it was a dull wet day,..i had a good look around but no sign of it anywhere,..oh i have a landing net
Yes it's definitely a Terrapin.Someone dumped a pet,how cruel, there are probably more around, keep looking out for them Philip. Yes you just need a net. Then you'll have to read up on them!! They can nip!
You have to wonder who would not have the brains to know come Winter it will freeze to death,..i guess there are many people like that,..oh i will remember they nip,..thanks,..that's one thing i forgot about,..also as you mentioned there may be more than the one.
Crocosmia Lucifer,..i have this in three locations,..getting rid of it after it blooms,..this will be the second time in 14 years that it has multiplied to 100's.
Be careful after handing him, they carry salmonella. Who would dump a pet? Cruel world we live in
Thanks Mary,..that's something else i had forgotten about,..Salmonella,..also the fact they nip thanks to @Valley Gardener,..i just had a vision of it holding on to my thumb while i was stuck in the mud,..i has dawned on me that if i rescue it,..i have to accommodate it as well lol,..oh well i wont mind if its safe.
@RubyRoss Thank you!,..delighted you enjoyed the images,..its very quiet here compared to Dublin,..though we do have the odd traffic jam lol.
I was born in Glasnevin Village,..opposite the National Botanical Gardens,..that was a quiet location as well,..here its water everywhere,..Canal/River and Lake,..no complaints i must add
Thank you,..rain again today so no Terrapin sunbathing,..i contacted Animal Rescue they said they would have a go at catching it,.. i sent them a picture with the Terrapin and gave the location also requested that they contact me when they were going there,..so fingers crossed.
I told Foxy Molly there was no walk today due to rain,..she wasn't smiling about this as you can see from the expression.
Its claimed that the colour green makes a person relax,..lots of green below,..the Hosta is in a container,..painted black.
A little splash of Crocosmia.
Clematis 'Freckles',..a long lasting blooming clematis.
@Mary370,..oh yes that squint of the eyes tells me she is not happy with my statement,..i don't believe you expression lol,..below is the relaxed and dozing look
