They look interesting let us know how they do.  It is very windy today 15d after being 24, with the wind chill feels really cold so have been in the greenhouse, sowing cosmos, zinnia, dahlias, potting on toms, peppers., while listening to the radio, Hubby more hardy than me has carried on with the weeding.

Trimmed and straighten lawn edges yesterday plus lots of little jobs , very pleased with self , lovely and sunny
Been to allotment this morning again lots done , started raining at about 2-00 and hadn’t stopped , had a few jobs to do in house so worked out well
    off to B&Q tomorrow
Hope all’s well with everybody  :)
  • Had a letter yesterday with an appointment for the results of the Nuclear tests done on my ankle. My appointment for Tues. was cancelled at the last minute for the specialist's unexpectededly early maternity leave. I now have to wait until May 22nd so I am not going to be rushing anywhere soon!

Went shopping yesterday morning, had to put the feet up before going for a balmy walk on the beach with the dog in the late afternoon. It was like Canine PicadAm hoping to do some gardening today.

  • Yes, we have. OH planted carrots, radish and salad leaves and I moved more large dahlia pots outside of the conservatory and dug/transplanted some finished daffodil bulbs into a more suitable place.  I planted half a dozen or so a few years ago and now have 20 - 30 bulbs - a good investment - far better than tulips that only last 2 or 3 years.

Dodged the showers to take photos of wallflowers and tulips in front garden. Dug up and split pulmonaria "Blue Ensign" into 6 pieces. Planted one back and potted up the rest. One of my favourite plants, and the bees love it. Got pretty breezy so had to give up and come for cup of tea. Forecast for Friday looking pretty nasty, could be a greenhouse day.
  • I put down some "Log look"round slabs for stepping stones.Planted 2 more Salvias,and a Rosemary.
Sowed Poppies, cornflowers and some others I've forgotten the name of!!! Planted more Cosmos Tetra in pots to go amongst the Salvias later.
Planted up some red pelargoniums, and lobelia,(grown from seed)in tubs outside, but think they will need to be covered in fleece tonight as its getting cold here!

I topped up the spuds with compost for the final time and then watered, going to let them grow on now and we'll see how they've done in July / August.

Finished off watering the Toms, which are growing like crazy  B)

  • My OH continued to "try out" his new toy - the strimmer - so far so good.  I removed some blanket weed from the pond and he added more barley extract which is costing us a fortune at a bottle a week.  I potted up some more cosmos into their final pot before planting out and this evening we will be watering for an hour yet again unless the rain comes.

I’ve been watering our newly-laid lawn almost daily for over a week. Heavy rain is forecast tonight, so a day off. I’m looking forward to getting onto it and getting on with prep with the borders.

Cut the grass at last. Earthed up some early tatties and did some weeding with the help of granddaughter. She magically found three ruby coloured flat gems in the soil that must be worth a fortune 😉.
