Did an hour at lunchtime while it was warmest. Cut so much stuff from the hedge it's very see-thro now. Later I remembered that the remnants  of the clematis armandi in it would be very exposed (faces north that side) so I quickly fleeced it as it had some new shoots. I'm hoping I can save it. Chatted to a neighbour and explained what I was doing and fortunately he was supportive, although they'll have an awful view for a few months. Always helps!

  • Spent a few hour's at the allotment this morning just digging over and removing more stones, bricks and other rubbish.

I have lots of new shoots on the clematises on the balcony so far they have been OK without any protection  :/

I did well today! Built two 3m raised veg beds, dismantled a current one and shifted all the soil over, which kept me warm! 😀
  • What a busy lot you have been today - nothing so energetic here as my back has pinged and feeling fragile.  However with some help I managed to fill a lovely blue pot with a heuchera, carex, miniature iris and a couple of GC polyanthus.  The four plants are still in their three inch pots, so I can remove the polyanthus when they finish flowering and prevent the carex from taking over.  I hope that works. OH carried on clearing the old wild flower bed which has been over run with bind weed for the past two summers despite me pulling as much out as possible on a daily basis. Bindweed 1 gardeners 0

That pot looks great GD. I cheated and bought a reduced price pot for a £5 with 5 plants in it and meant to remove the pansy and plant a primrose instead, you've just reminded me! No gardening today, too cold and wet.

  • Thanks Lizzie27, I try to keep my 30 + pots around house and garden looking good, it can be expensive, and we don't have bargains like your lucky £5.00 find here. Mostly I buy bulbs or sow seeds to fill them.
No gardening here either, too wet and cold.
  • Not today, just a quick look round and re-fill the bird feeder.

Exactly what I did! Far too cold for me but not for the birds.
