@Allotment Boy  Leaf-crumbs are in fact related going back thousands of years they divided into two very distinct and separate family's.

However recently new scientific gene analysis has found that there are still two pure  leaf-crumb family's in existence in the far reaches of Outer Mongolia the golds and silvers pictures of both can be found by a simple google image search for leaf-crumb

Well , cleaned car this morning , filled bird feeders , cleaned pots in greenhouse and it then started raining and it looks like it’s hear for night
Yesterday I was saying about lack of rain ☔️
  • So it's your fault then ! Next time you order rain remember to specify for OVERNIGHT rain only :)

  • GWRS forgiven - Sunshine today, cold but bright, ideal for a session on the Allotment. Including a  little digging, pulled some beetroot and picked some purple Broccoli. Started prep for a raised bed,  cut some corner posts from a bit of scrap pallet wood but realised I did not have any long screws with me to join pieces together, still there's always tomorrow.

Just had time to hastily plant four cheap yellow primulas in front bed by drive, just to cheer it up a little. Noticed one of my Katherine Hodgson (?) Iris is in bloom nearby.
Repotted two rooted bits of yellow flowering jasmine I've promised to a friend and screwed the legs onto my new incinerator, in readiness for tomorrow hopefully. Ordered yet another pair of gloves, Tough Touch ones, pricey but I hope they'll cope with the berberis thorns (the fingers had gone on my old leather gauntlets).

Beautiful day, sunny with no wind but cold. Perfect for work on the allotment if you keep on the go.

Yes, I got to play with fire! New incinerator and heat proof gloves worked a treat, Burnt 6 trugsfull of mainly dry hedge debris, but was surprised at the amount of smoke that poured out of the chimney bit. Good job the neighbours were out. I later put the cold ash in my compost bin - not sure if this was a good idea or not.
