  • Carried on digging over our old wild flower raised bed, dismantling it, removing as much bind weed root as we can find ready to relay the soil once the mypex has been removed.  I wouldn't recommend using mypex, although it has it's uses as a short term weed suppressant.

Did a bit of shrub pruning today (those that can be pruned in Winter). When the tree surgeon comes in a couple of weeks he will do my larger trees/shrubs, including some conifers, 2 large Laurels and a Pittosporum.
My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • Soil still too wet for any gardening but, thankfully,  no snow in the West Midland so far.
Repaired my diy potting table situated in my greenhouse. Washed  down some plastic pots
Sat in my greenhouse and hoped for dry weather and a few more plus degrees on the temperature gauge so I can crack on with some proper gardening
  • Did you hoik it out AnniD? Hoik it! Hoik it! 😀

Did some weeding in the areas now defrosted, the front border and the guerilla zone. Ordered some plants recently and found spaces for most. I won't plant until spring. I'm not against planting in winter, just not sure if there really are spaces or stuff I've forgotten about is still underground. 🤔

Sawed off the lower branches of my crab apple, I think it's ok to do at this time of year. It was a nice shape but the branches poked me every time I went past on the path.

Put a hook on the fence for my tangle of washing line.
    Wearside, England.
  • Not done anything since last Saturday, every time I have tried something has come up and put a stop to it, but according to my diary I'm free for the next two days so weather permitting I will get out there  :)

@Victoria Sponge l had every intention of hoiking it out, but in the end l just cut back all the sprawly bits for the time being. Reason being that wherever l leave bare soil, there's a cat or two that use it, if you know what l mean. I put various plant supports and things where l can, but they seem to find a spot l missed! Cut back some hellebore leaves l had missed and raked up bits of miscanthus grass from various areas while the blackbird sat on the fence and chirped at me. Robin just got stuck into the areas l'd raked etc, l think he (?) did quite well with tiny insects etc.

Lovely sunny day today so did 4 hours, managed to nearly finish cutting back our horrible berberis hedge. OH did the thick branches I couldn't manage and I did the smaller ones. I'm really pleased and we have saved lots of money by not having to pay the hedge cutter we normally use
