No gardening but I did notice some colour starting to appear this morning!

  • Today:
Sowed 5 sweet pepper "Corno di toro rosso" seed's and a tray of Viola "blackjack" the Physalis alkekengi "Chinese lantern" are just starting to germinate all in the propagator at home.
Moved the Alchemilla mollis "lady's mantel" out of propagator to the table and under lights.

Yesterday afternoon major prune to one of my trees , cut up to dry for burning on fire 🔥
Was going to do another tree today but as we have freezing fog decided not to

Not really, just trekked out in the snow to knock it off a couple of vulnerable shrubs. My big box balls looked like dumplings.  Forgot to wrap my olive up so hoping it will survive.Noticed that the snowdrops and hellebores had perked up where the snow had melted in the sunshine.

Pruned a small tree and started on one of the willows , which will need a major cut
  • Dug out a few clumps of Spanish blue bells growing in the field.  No flowers on them as yet and we were pleased to find that all the bulbs were still attached to those we dug out.

Took the fleece off the coldframes as forecast is for milder weather for a least a week. Tipped out a pot of sick looking polyanthus to find vine weevil grubs  :/
Snowdrops coming through all over now, so "titivated" round them, accompanied by blackbird. Neighbour gave me some red hot pokers a couple of years ago, of which I have one left. Very tempted to hoik it out as it just sprawls all over the place, flowers once and that's it. Think of what l could grow in that space ! Something tells me l know what l will be doing tomorrow!
