Sun and blue sky today so got lots done. Lawns mowed, removed some soil from perennial pots and topped up with compost, manure and FBB. Planted some foxgloves. Split a canna and removed a couple of woody lavenders. Fed all the bulbs and visited a lovely plant fair. All in all a lovely day.
Spuds in. At last! Also planted a potted Rosa rugosa to fill a gap in a hedge. Magnolias flowers have been hanging on for some warmth and just about to open.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Potted-on Sunflowers, bit of weeding, revived a large Lavender bush, and some other small jobs. Would have done more but had an extended tea break when the in-laws popped in so was happy just to be out in the sunshine. The Lavender is old, very leggy and flops forward so should probably be 'retired', but it's right by the patio door and gives such a lovely show of flower and scent in Summer that I won't give up on it yet. I got right in and brushed and snipped all the old, dead and loose bits off. Fingers crossed it will earn its place for another year.
A lovely.lovely sunny and warm day here. Finally got round to cutting back the penstemons. My delphimiums have started to shoot so put some copper mesh tape round them. Did some weeding, tidying up and finally sat on the terrace with a glass of wine.
O/H spent yesterday sewing seeds in g/h. I spent day at allotment lots done Cuts lawns for first time today hard work , rather long but at least they where dry
Finally a dry day at the Allotments yesterday but the soil is STILL too wet to work properly. It's going to be a real juggling act to get on it at the right time before it dries out & goes rock hard again it already has a dry "crust". Had to confine myself to strimming & mowing the grass paths. Very frustrating! Desperate to get some spuds in.
We sowed the last half of the wild flower area this morning - that took a few minutes but tying the strings across the area to hopefully prevent the neighbours cat from using the freshly sown soil as a toilet took an hour or two. Picture to follow. I am sure the time spent will be worth it when the butterflies and bees arrive.

Just been out to remove all that they've left on the surface again. They are pretty industrious when I've been watching them
