Had a productive day despite the weather. There had been a bark deliver to the site, so barked some paths (that sounds funny).

Filled up water butts in the GH's. I've been told the water in them will warm up during the day if we get sun and retains the heat, so, during the night, when temps drop, the heat from the water, helps keep up day temperatures longer, should be useful when I start to sow seeds in there.

Collected some seaweed too, a high tide had washed loads up on the beach and the new tides had not reached it so it had died.  We can collect seaweed here providing it has died. Hoping to seep it in water to make feed for GH plants and use as a foilage spray.

GWR. It's always good to get ahead by clearing spent winter veg. I've chard and spring greens still doing well in one of the GH's was thinking of transplanting the chard into an outdoor bed , me thinks it is quite hardy what do you think..

We completed some coppicing today and leant how to weave fencing. I really enjoyed it.

Went to plot today the sun came out nicely did some more on small shed building and some planning, lots more plot holders around today
Zoomer that sounds really interesting just like Carol Kline did with her headging, think I would leave the chard this week as really cold weather unless in a coldframe
GWRS lots done on your plot
Good so many of us on here do winter tasks

You are probably right about the chard, Gardengirl, will leave it for a couple of weeks, I've other things to do. I've a few days off this week so hoping o go some mornings.

Zoomer , Chard is hardy , I have some growing at plot , however , with yours in g/h might be a bit of shock putting it outside

GWRS. I'll start to leave the GH door open with a view to planting out the chard in a couple of weeks time. I'm wanting to clean and prep the GH before I start to sow seeds in there so I'm being a little impatient.

Went to plot today and yesterday did a lot of digging on an area not dug before had wood pile on it for ages now used or moved - did have a one tonne bag layed out on it for ages so helped like weed matting, lots of rubbish in soil metal bits, nails poles, and looks like a food cutter thing, plastic glass, boulders - area now dug over
Had a bonfire in the end today with help from dad was a good fire in the end
Lots of other allotmenteers out in sunshine yesterday not so many out today and the soil was frosty ice lumps stuck together

Sounds like you inherited a really poor site Gardengirl. My plot was overgrown but didn't have lots of rubbish in the soil.
