Morning all, thanks Dove and everyone for well wishes for papa womble, he was shaken up but only when I said that it was ok to be and anyone would be! He often fibs about things and plays them down so I don't worry, but if he's to be beloved them he's unscathed, thank God! I'm currently at work, first time on my own, have unlocked and opened up without tripping any alarms or anything disastrous! Think it's going to be a quiet day, can't see any farmers working in continuous downpours! That will give me a chance to read back and see what you have all been up to! 😉 Have a lovely day all!
Aaaaargh!!!! no ... kettle defunct We are boiling a saucepan
Just checked its receipt ... guarantee ran out in March ... it was a de Longhi one ... would have been £64 at John Lewis but we got it via Amazon for around £40 but of course only one year guarantee instead of JL's two year one
Another one the same at JL is now nearly £80 ... that's too much for a kettle ... there's a similar but different one (still de Longhi) at JL for £30 ... we could whizz into the city and get one ... or there's one the same as the last one on Amazon for £40 still .... but we'd have to pay extra to get it by tomorrow and we'd only have the one year guarantee ......... oh decisions decisions ..... I need

Think I’d try a different make Dove - 13 months doesn’t sound a great lifetime for a kettle 😳
Seems like we are now due a grey but dry weekend ......so about to don my (holey ) gardening clothes and venture forth. We have 6 tonnes of green waste being dumped on the driveway on Monday, so need to get ready to use it.
Mr C has just noticed that we have “lost” our neighbours again ......leaf coverage on the trees is now enough to obscure the view until November (don’t get me wrong, the neighbours are lovely 😊 but its nice to be in a green bubble again)
Dove - I had a Delonghi kettle some years back - very expensive and didn't last. Style over function possibly. The matching toaster did fair better though! Washing on, soup on the go, all exercises done for now plus a half hour on the treadmill, so I'd better shower and do some housework. Don't think I can get away with saying the arm's too painful for that when I've been able to do hacking and pruning and painting.... Nice when the foliage is properly green isn't it chicky? Our trees and hedges are only just starting to green up, but the difference in a couple of weeks is noticeable. The swallows had returned at work yesterday which is lovely too
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Morning all. At one time, when we merged houses and moved here, we had 8, yes eight kettles. I think we still have about 4. Hubby went shopping not long after we moved here and came home with a toaster. "please tell me it's a not a Dualit" , "why not " he said " because they're £140 each , that's why". "it's a Dualit, and , you're right, it was £140. Oh, and I bought the kettle to match" (£80) We don't even use the electric kettle we use one on the gas hob. Men eh? @Dovefromabove, you can have it "click and collect" to Waitrose .It'll be there tomorrow, saves you heading into the big bad city.
I was warned (by the chap selling them) not to buy an Italian suite. It is indeed a case of style over function. The suite looked gorgeous but was uncomfortable and (according to him) fell to bits in about 3-5 years.
