Too late wonky . The supermarket car parks are already heaving full and road rage over the last spaces. Not enough tills on as usual. Trolleys heaving with food, half of which will get thrown out. The supermarkets are shut on Monday. However will anyone manage?
Son 2 rang, wanted to borrow the stockings I use when the grandchildren come for Christmas, also wanted to know where he could buy crackers. So I met him at Gifi on the edge of town and he bought lots of crackers for both of us. He won't be coming to us for Christmas, he's going to daughter 2 for the weekend then on to his in-laws further south.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Just spoke to Wonky ... she's back from the supermarket with most of what she had on her list ... she said she'll pop around the corner to Lidl to get the rest.
Here the gammon has been glazed with marmalade and is cooling, I've par-roasted some potatoes to take to son and a ragu for a spag bol for Christmas Eve is simmering ... it'll be simpler than the planned pie to freeze any leftovers in portions for him to reheat when he's up to it. I've made the bread sauce and cooked some carrots to reheat with butter on The Day. Puddings, mince pies and sausage rolls are all done too and there's a beef casserole in the oven for tonight ......... is there anything else I've got to do

I love Christmas, family come to stay, others pop in, what I hate is all the spending, the over indulgence, people having to go shopping nearly every day for more food, then moaning because the car parks full, the shelves are empty, I could go on. I haven’t been grocery shopping for ages, it’s all been delivered. Don’t know what the car parks are like but can imagine, hell, it’s only one day, they’re open Tuesday.
thats what puts people off of Christmas I think, just tooooooo much.
Nothing much to do today, few presents to wrap, Midnight mass is at 7.30 on Sunday, , not quite the same as coming home late, having a hot drink, and snuggling down ready for the Christmas Day.
I will make some mince pies tomorrow, another easy day.

Any festive mood I had just evaporated as I had a call to go in for an MRI scan! I did ask them to call if there was a cancellation, so I am grateful but it wasn't the most pleasant pre-Christmas experience! Anyone who has been for a head scan will know what I mean!
Picked up coffee and doughnuts on way home though - so just choosing a film to watch (possibly with my eyes closed!).
Hope everyone will find time for a chill with all this cleaning, cooking and shopping going on!
It usually is Pauline, but our Vicar is very ill and another is helping out and can’t fit all the Eve services in on his own so shuffled times around. He is doing a midnight service but not at our church.

Oh lovely Dove... give me a nudge if I start snoring!
I haven't looked at my RadioTimes yet today - wonder what we can watch later...
