Look like Teal to me too ... probably from northern Europe overwintering with you ... they tend to head for the southwestern UK but we get some here in the east too. Your slugs had better watch out
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
8C now and we've had more rain but not enough to have visitors like your Hosta. Lovely - but they'll make a mess. Just as well we haven't got any as Rasta doggy found a nice pile of soggy and very stinky coypu poo last night when she went out for bedtime pee. Rolled in it very thoroughly on both sides and needed a full bath.
No knitting here but I have started on some felt and fabric Xmas napkin holders... Not sure they'll work but it's fun to try.
Mega shop done this am so curtains and cleaning for me this pm. With any luck I can keep OH too busy to get the tree in the living room this evening but I reckon it'll be in and decorated by Sunday. then, maybe, I'll have time to get the bulbs planted.

It has to be said, the ducks tend to stay right down at the lake, never near the house ( apart from Mrs Mallard a couple of years back )
I'm feeling very pleased. Saga quoted £457 to renew our house / contents insurance. I've just got the same cover from LV for £116.99.
We've watched "Bancroft" this week on ITV and very good it was too.
Has anyone else noticed the use of " fake smoke" in dramas these days?
Back in the day,, pubs were always smokey so you'd see beams of sunlight coming through windows, Bancroft had them everywhere , police station/ houses/ pubs , even though nobody was smoking.
Evening all. What a lovely treat those ducks are Hosta.
Had a busy afternoon of Aunty duties - we made some Christmassy decorations, some chocolate cookies and did a carole concert! The poor kittens hid upstairs for most of it! I do believe I deserve a little tipple now - going for spiced rum ?
Hope everyone else is ok and having a relaxing evening.
Snap, Hosta. I changed our buildings + contents insurance from Kwikfit Insurance (quoted £346, £50 higher than last year) to LV today. £161, and a better product too.
I'm happy to say The Finger is much easier - still a bit stiff and swollen, but very much less painful now. I can get my gloves on and off without holding my breath today! OH's leg is improving slowly, but he's very tired and hasn't a lot of appetite yet, so I'm trying to keep him tempted with some of his favourites.
We had a fab time yesterday cuddling our new grandson. Of course, I think he's gorgeous - OH generally subscribes to the PG Wodehouse description of babies as all looking like homicidal fried eggs... though he did enjoy his cuddles too. We went by public transport, a good decision because the black ice was very hazardous; it was difficult enough getting to the station, normally a 5 minute walk which took 3 times as long as usual.
Tomorrow is going to be Mammoth Cleaning Day, in preparation for the Christmas decs.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Thanks Lyn ... I've bookmarked those
The downstairs is gleaming like a new pin ... decorations will go up tomorrow. Upstairs can wait a day or two ...

Can anyone identify these ducks which have arrived en masse on the lake? I didn't want to get any closer for fear of startling them.
Not 1005 clear, but look like Teal.

Put up some Christmas decks this afternoon as friends coming around shortly for a drink ?
Hosta can’t under stand why companies like Saga don’t reward loyalty , just renewed o/h car ins and asked for a price reduction and got it
Have a pleasant evening everybody
