Apricot and nectarine trees have arrived.  Interesting packing technique with tips of apricot poking above the box.  IAll 3 now warming up in the annex before I pot them up and put them out in the sun against a south wall then the polytunnel till their bed is ready.

Dove - Thanks.  We do get clouds, just none that drop any real rain.

I love those nigellas Pat.  Never grew for me in the Belgian garden but I'll be trying them here next spring.  Fingers crossed they like it better here.

Those white flowers came from a packet of Yates seeds - some of you might remember When I asked if anyone knew what they were a couple of years ago. They just self seed every year. I rip lots of them out because they invade footpaths and other places where I dont want them to grow.

I had ordered 2 oval mounts for paintings that were damaged in the flood from England. Couldn't get oval ones here. Luckily the water running down the walls only affected the mounts not the pictures. The delivery firm sent an email asking where I wanted them delivered. I said the Post Office as the last time they couldn't find my house. Another company with a Sat Nav problem. They sent an email with the opening times of the Post Office for me to collect the parcel and a link for tracking the delivery. I clicked on the link, only to find that they went to the Post Office yesterday outside opening hours, so couldn't deliver the parcel, so they have sent it back to England. How stupid can you get?

Chimney sweep & boiler servicing man has just been. I have rung them several times since early summer, finally said they would come Friday morning, but he turned up today.

After nearly a month's wait the men have turned up to remove the damaged carpets after the flood and clean the furniture and rug.

Is it as bad as that in England?

Even worse Busy.  If no-one's in, courier companies often just lob fragile parcels over fences - as seen on consumer progs on the Beeb.

Have to say I've been impressed here.  All deliveries on time whether here or to PO for collection.  This morning I've received my new fruit trees via courier and they only arrived at their Lille centre at 6:50pm yesterday.  I've also received the new weather centre via the PO.  Smiles all round.

On the other hand, bulldozer man hasn't appeared despite cashing the deposit 6 months ago.  Then, after a big prod from me to his office manager, he told OH last Monday that he'd come to dredge the pond on Thursday with nobody home.   OH had to put him off which means I shall have to go and prod again.

Shower room fittings ordered from a fancy shower room company also a no-show so far and no-one is answering emails or phones.  Never had such problems in Belgium during all the work we did on that house or in Harrow in the 80s.

    Win some, lose some.

    hi again.

I've just had my old person's health check.

Blood pressure : excellent. Risk of heart attack or stroke in next 10 years; 5.3%. Everything " good" except BMI : 27.17. It puts me in amber, which is better than red.

    I can live with that.

No words of wisdom on the insomnia though.image

That must make you feel good Hosta.   Any progress on your pain seizures?   Have you tried magnesium supplements to help with your insomnia?  I bought a supply to help with cramps and it says it's good for aiding sleep.   My BMI is a work in progress............

We need to make space on our Sky box so I am womanfully FFing my way thru GW progs to see if there are any gems I need to show OH, such as raised bed building, and have found that chap on cloud pruning.   I shall have a go next spring on that hulking overgrown bay tree.

Old persons check, you’re still a baby!? you’ve done very well on the weight reduction, that’s good, hope your holiday doesn’t spoil all your hard work.

glad they don’t do them for my age, god knows what they‘d find?

This BMI  calculator is much more sensible ... it takes things like age and other variables like racial body-type (if that's the right term) into account
