Hello everyone.  Very chatty this morning!   No snow here but another frost and clear blue skies.   Heavy clouds to the north and west but not here.

I stayed up late watching 3 progs about Guy Burgess and then Kim Philby.   Mind boggling complacency and naivety in FO and MI6 circles.  Unbelievable really.

Too many to mention so just a welcome back for Bushman and have a great day everyone, whatever you're doing.  Stay safe in ice and snow and floods.

No proper snow here yet, about 35 mins south of Dove. Wonder if we'll get it?

Afternoon all. No snow here:I nipped out earlier to get some milk and a few bits. Thought I'd get an extra one in case it snows...

.... open the freezer to find two frozen milks in there already! Well I do like to be sure that there is always tea available.

Making a Christmas cake in a short while; the fruit has been soaking in alcohol all week. I'm afraid I have cheated and brought a pudding - will be making my own mince pies though.

We had snow here too, briefly. It took me by surprise. I don't think it was forecast, and it didn't really look like snow, more like tree pollen! Lots of big wafty flakes for about 5 minutes, then it was gone. No settling.

Rather less cold here today than yesterday - there was a proper hoar frost down in the river valley yesterday morning but just your average cold day today. I think there's rain to the west of us but dry and sunny here. I've been making the Christmas cake. It smells delicious, anyway image.

Got to get back to my furniture restoration project this afternoon. We have a pine dresser we bought cheap in a job lot when a neighbour in a previous house moved out and we needed some stuff to fill an empty house we were trying to sell. It had a rather grim very dark finish and fancy brass handles that didn't suit us at all. Useful bit of furniture though - three drawers and plenty of cupboard space. It's languished in a shed since we've been here - nearly 9 years - but it was in the way down there so we brought it out and I decided to have a go at it with the sander to see if I could make something half decent out of it. It's come up rather well. It'll never be a glamorous centrepiece, but to go in the back hall to keep flower jugs, table mats and hats and gloves, it's just the job. OH has bought some new plain handles and I've got to give it a couple of coats of Danish Oil. Job's a good 'un image

Or maybe leave it on all night but get t swept more often?  We had ours done as soon as we could after we moved in and chappy gave me a good telling off about them obviously not having been cleaned for 3 or 4 years and there having been a fire in both chimneys making loads of muck.  Much muttering till I told him we'd only moved in 2 weeks before.  We've lit the living room fire about 5 times since.  It is overwhelmingly hot even with just one log.

Did Talla deal with them all on her own or does she have pals to help?

OH has just taken ours out for walkies in the biting northerly wind while I put away the shopping and save my feet for dancing later.

I hope no-one's getting more snow than they can handle.

Hi Obelixx. Talla and I curled up in front of the fire now.  She had 3 other pals to help today.

We put in a wood burner 12 years ago when we moved here. Had it swept every year by same chap. It's all our own wood and oh obsessive about it being dry so really none of us can understand why except the liner may be getting old! Like us!

You will warm up dancing tonight!

Raisen girl that dresser sounds nice, once you have put your things on it it will come to life! I can smell the cakeimage
