We shared a dish of the delicious marinated whitebait and another of cockle popcorn between the three of us as a starter, then all three of us each had a small portion of cod and chips. Very good as usual. The small portions were still more than adequate and a helping of chips has gone home in a napkin for their chickens.
Before we met up I called in at a greengrocers and a bag of Brussels Sprout Tops ... couldn't resist them ... we'll have them on Sunday with the shoulder of pork I bought from the Cromer butcher with the wonderful name of Icarus Hines.
I also bought some fresh herring which I'll probably souse fpr lunch on Monday and a large dressed crab ... I'm thinking of crab soufflé for Saturday's supper.
What've you lot been up to? I shall have a look ............

Hubby does a FAB beef and prune tajine. Doesn't he Dove?
Indeed he does Hosta
Pauline ((hugs)) ... I'm glad someone has to eat my share of cakes and puddings etc ... I've been worrying who was going to do it.
Dacha ... give your BH my commiserations re her hypothyroidism ...t mine hardly works at all and I'm on a high dose of thyroxine ... tell her to look after her joints, take glucosamine and calcium ... wish they'd told me that earlier. Other than that ... not a lot to worry about as long as long as she gets her levels checked regularly.
Pdoc ... sleep is good ...

Evening one and all. Been on Aunty duties this arvo - making tea was easy: Quavers for starter, baked beans for main (cold!) and apple 'grumble' for pud! Please be advised this was not my suggestion - except the pudding, which I had made in advance!
Pauline: I used to buy little puds for my Mum when she had radiotherapy - mini trifles, cream cakes, porridge made with cream, etc. and we had to hide them from my Dad who is diabetic. I remember making a round of tea once and they sipped the wrong ones: Mum had the skimmed milk tea and Dad the tea with blue-top and sugar - but in unison they both said "oh lovely!", as they actually preferred each other's brew!
Have a pleasant Friday evening all. It's firework city outside and I expect that will continue all weekend. Poor little pets.
Sorry Pauline. I did mean to wish you well earlier, but I got carried away.
Lyn, I've now got 76 dumpy sacks on the go , + the 3 bins behind the tunnel and the 3 bins in the allotment. Everything needs mulched next Spring, and all the beds in the tunnels need topping up and I'm still planning the Hosta Garden in the wood so will need lots for that project.
Punkdoc, sleep is good. Just ask those of us who never seem to get enough.
Icarus Hines sounds like he should be a character from Harry Potter.
Pauline I really hope the treatment works for you. You sound so calm and brave, please drop in whenever you like, don't have to post. I'm sure we'll all be thinking of you and wishing you well.
We've been watching Great Canal Journeys from the Norfolk Broads (recorded). I really like that series.
Had a call from the Insurance Assessor, they are accepting the re-decorating and new carpets estimates. Relief. The whole clear up after the flood is around £7000.

Hello folks ... I'm home
The small portions were still more than adequate and a helping of chips has gone home in a napkin for their chickens.
Had a lovely meet up and lunch in Cromer with a couple of foodie friends. We ate at Galton Blakiston's Chippie overlooking the pier ... http://www.no1cromer.com/wp-content/upl ... s-Menu.pdf

Think of it as "witter therapy", Pauline, as we chat about this and that... and hugs from me too.
Punkdoc, good to see you've found the positive side in having to do jobs slowly. And yes, sleep is wonderful.
Very sorry to hear your news Pauline.
I wish you all the best for your recovery.
