We've had snow showers but hasn't settled. Went out for a walk this afternoon but cut it short as the wind was so cold. OH was thinking of lighting the woodburner, then found we hadn't any matches. Didn't feel like going back out to the village shop, had already been for firelighters.

Had a quiet day, done some housework, watched Escape to the Country.

Like the sound of your dresser Raisingirl, must have been a satisfying job.

RG - pics on the craft thread please.

Busy - maybe the neighbours have some matches or do you have a gas hob to light a twist of paper?  We went to Cairn for a "prehistoric" dance and fire show in summer and they began with a wench in skins using special stones and dried grass and fluffy seed heads to get a spark and grow it into a flame to light their fires and torches.

LP - good for you and the other dogs and owners too, having fun and helping.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Lots of snow up north GWRS. Whereabouts is your niece? The snow gates have been shut in various places regularly in the last few days, especially Cockbridge to Tomintoul. You always know winter's arrived in the north Highlands when that road closes  image

I'd forgotten it was St Andrews' night. I've never done anything about it  anyway - it has rather negative connotations for me too. image

Look forward to seeing your dresser r'girl. Very useful as you say. Have you got some nice stuff to display on it?

Hope you're nice and cosy now LP and BL. Brisk here. The ground is very frozen and I still have some bark to put down. The temp is supposed to go up a bit tomorrow so hopefully it'll start to thaw out over the weekend. I had to break the ice on the pond this evening as it froze up again through the day. The birds would need skates if I didn't.

Keen to get on a hill while there's snow, in case we get a winter like last year. It's been a great few days this week but, of course, set to change for the weekend  image

Ive just managed to read back. Lots of pages and talk of cold weather. I’ve been a bit too warm overnight. Might be time to change the sheets from flannelette to cotton. image

    Hi all.

It is now snowing, been freezing all day, tried sitting out to get some rays, but even with full Arctic gear on had to give up after about 20 minutes.

Hope you had a good one Hosta, hope you and hubby have a lovely evening, I shall raise a glass to you later.

  • Hellio folks ... boiler man gone, boiler virtually rebuilt and running beautifully and the house is warm again. image

Hope everyone else is safe and snug ... I've spoken to Wonky and she loves her new boots, gloves and snuggly ski salopettes  ... she's been outside in the snow all day and has been singing as she worked image
