    Morning all.

Exciting time for Chicky, I hope she has a lovely visit.

Another frost -2°. Must clear the rest of the summer bedding out of the pots and re plant them. Bit short of compost and the SM had run out.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

It's still quite mild here Busy but I'm on the coast which makes a difference.

    Hi all.

    Getting very close now Chicky.

I know this will sound ridiculous, but all i can think about this morning, is how am I possibly going to be able to dig my Cannas and Dahlias up?

I know it does not matter, but I have been cultivating some of them for 20 years and they feel a bit like children.

Hope you all have a good day.

Morning Pdoc.  Maybe try digging them up one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Much slower but saving what little energy you have.

    Morning all, again.

    I fell asleep about 3am.

Punkdoc. I'd accept a minor defeat on the cannas etc and pay someone to dig them up. I'm sure you could find a young fit lad , or girl, who would be willing to do with you supervising?

Guess who stupidly agreed to work this afternoon?image WHY, WHY WHY?

  • Good morning everyone!  Can't believe it's November already...

Yesterday's visit to Mum went much as expected, though she wasn't easily deflected this time from something that was worrying her about her skirt.  In the end I put my jacket on her lap, apparently to show her the pretty colours but in fact to cover up the skirt so she wouldn't remember her concern.  But she is fairly well, all things considered.  Didn't get to see the manager in the end - he had an emergency to deal with.

Only 9 sleeps, Chicky!  That's getting very close...  image

A week today I shall be well on my way to Scotland, visiting our cottage for my usual November mending/painting/chilling trip.  Still got bulbs to plant and leaves to clear before I go, and food to make and leave in the freezer for my non-cooking OH.  And around the time I return, our DIL is due to give birth to their first baby (our third grandchild), so I shall be taking my knitting to Scotland.  Exciting times...  image

I'd second the idea of paying someone to lift your tender plants, Punkdoc.  You can certainly supervise (from a garden chair, perhaps), but you'll know better than most of us not to overdo things.
