Still clean and crisp here FG tho the front of house - full sun and south - is registering 15C while everywhere else is 8C. We have a dribble in the pond which has a pipe taking water from the roof... As you can see, serious rainfall last night. None due now for days.
I'll be sure to take some photos of the Halles tomorrow FG.
We always ended up eating our Xmas cake as après-ski instant fuel or else gardening fuel with coffee in March and April. Last year the stupid gas oven we inherited managed to burn my cake, even at 1/4 gas. This year I hope to have my real oven plumbed in - assuming the tiler comes and does the annex floor. If not, I shall just have to try the new one in the kitchen. It did OK with banana and cardamom buns for patchwork class last week.
Soup sounds good. I should think Hosta does a lot of people watching. No need to dose id he's getting 9 hours' sleep!

Pudding fruit is weighed out and steeping in brandy ready for Stir Up Sunday tomorrow

Glad you're sleeping well Hosta

Talk of lovely food going on - lamb rogan sounds superb!
Busy-Lizzie: there's a new programme on daytimes bbc called 'Armchair Detectives' you might like (find on iPlayer). I would say it's "naff" but something a bit different - and I like Susan Calman who presents. Anyone else seen it?
Just having a feet-up half hour until OH returns with his Mum's sewing machine so we can finish altering the roman blinds we decided to re-cover rather than spend £££ on new ones. Had a few quotes and fabric blinds are very pricey! We have ceiling to floor and four panes to cover in the breakfast room so decided to go with make-do-and-mend for now.
We went to the craft sale this morning in the village hall and I left the cake I won yesterday. One of our friends was selling his paintings, hadn't realised he was such a good artist, he said his father was an artist. I bought an oil painting of the village church that he'd painted. We had brekkies there, bacon buttie for mean and cheese scone for OH.
Then we went to look around the small market town of Loddon which was having it's farmers' market. Bought some milk, cheese, pork fillet, bavette steak (much cheaper than in France), a partridge pie, fresh dug carrots and cavallo nero. Never cooked cavallo nero before. Must look it up. Walked around the town and looked at the boats on the south end of the Broads. Freezing cold so had hot chocolate in front of the fire in the village pub.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Aha! We found the new pot of yoghurt ... he put the shopping away for me yesterday and it was in the garage fridge ... cucumber now grated, sprinkled with seasalt and sitting in a colander draining ... mint leaves chopped ....

Loddon's lovely BL ... there are some great walks around that area. You were at Beccles and Harleston the other day ... again really lovely little towns ... my old area ... our family dentist was in Harleston.

Christmas pudding is made - sorry Dove but I'm working Monday so had to have it done today so I can steam it tomorrow. Gluten free (for MIL) and sulphite free and soya free (for OH) and shell fish free (for me - that wasn't too difficult to be honest but I feel left out if I don't get a mention). Now what am I going to do with the half bottle of cider I didn't use......

Bitterly cold but got a good walk this morning with the dogs.
made some Lemoncello for my brother in law who adores it and is only allowed it at Christmas! Then some homemade lemonade which has become a bit of a tradition with my lot and has already been requested
then enjoyed some of the best rugby I have seen Scotland play for years, as OH has duel nationality we never really mind who wins but it was a super game.
stay cosy
