Hi all. We’ve had the heating on and off depending on temp each day. Usually for a bit in the morning until we move around then outside it’s been up to about 17. We even raised a sweat out there yesterday.
I really dislike the clock changes. We are all fuddled with the light. Sleeping in more than we should and not getting tea until later because the afternoons are still light later than our body clocks advise us.
wonky, Ive already put photos on the other thread of my flowering bulbs, so it’d be boring to do it again. However, the clump of Dutch irises below the bedroom window has about 7 flower buds poking up. All being well, ie. the Wallaby or hare who has been pruning down there gives it a break, I should have a nice brilliant blue bunch of flowers to photograph. I noticed the Wallaby a bit further down the hill this morning is dragging a heavy pouch, so that might slow her down from some jumping into the garden bed.
Morning all. It's looking very windy outside and its not inspiring me to want to leave my nice warm bed.
My faithful hound didn't move from my side all night; he's only meant to sleep on the bed on a weekend or when my partner is out but I think perhaps when he's away for a week I might have to get him spend an occasional night on his own like a big brave dog.
Good morning all Wet and windy here. I've just shut the bedroom window 'cos its so noisy out there ... It's been open all night. It always is except in the very worst weather.

We try not to put the heating on here too early as it's so expensive, big old stone house, ancient boiler, oil heating - which costs more in France. Bedroom windows shut in winter to keep the warmth in and open in summer to let the cool night air in. But in the Norfolk cottage the heating (gas) is cheap and efficient and the cottage is really well insulated. Built of cob, clay lump, wattle and daub - depending on where you come from - thick walls.
Was only 3° again this morning. Yesterday was quite sunny, 20° in the afternoon.
Going to a meeting in Bergerac soon.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Lovely morning here, such a change from yesterday.
Our heating is expensive too Busy. Big old stone house LPG heated. We have looked at all the new systems but they cost a fortune to install and would take 15 years to pay for themselves. We doubt we would be here that long!
Dove if you had the window open here you would be sucked out by the wind.!
Hope your wrists better Wonky, Pat your weather is getting better?
Clari no matter what the circumstances our two have to sleep in the kitchen but as soon as oh goes down they are straight up here for cuddles

I'm up and dressed and out early as I volunteered to drive OH to work as the rain was hammering so hard on the windows not really cycling weather and even with his waterproofs on he could have been in damp clothes all day. He'll ring me this evening when he's nearly ready to leave off.
As we left we cleared up the mess from NDN's recycling bin that had blown over and spewed it's contents over the road and pavements. On bin day he can see his bin from where he sits and the carers say he worries about it if he can't see it ... but it's all sorted now. I'll keep checking on it until the bin men have been, but I think the worst of the wind has passed ... at least for a while.
I'm at home all day today as the plumber is coming at some time to sort the downstairs loo which has forgotten how to flush, so I'm going to pop a chicken and some root veg in the domed chicken roaster ... that'll make lovely juices for the gravy

No idea of temps cos the pesky receiver for the weather station has gone silent. Sunny tho and a heavy dew on the grass when I got up. Our dogs sleep downstairs and have recently been banished form the kitchen and dining rooms to the annex after scratching at the dining room door at 6:30 once too often. Don't want them doing that when I've painted it either. Thick walls here and roll down shutters on most windows so we can be very cosy or open windows and close shutters to get air but keep out insects and early light.
The kittens come and go thru the teeny bathroom window at the mo so can sleep on our bed if they want. Sometimes we get noisy presents in the night but not lately and Cosmos still likes an active cuddle. Minstrel sneakily followed walkies yesterday but got frighted near the cattle barns. Plaintive mewing. Tail bushed. Carried her home all flopped like a rag doll then set off again. Dogs befuddled.
Our autumn daffs flowered early this year and have also gone over fast. Lots of teeny naturalised cyclamen about. Long time to wait for spring bulbs. Enjoy yours Pat.

When we lived out in a rural spot we had a fish van from Lowestoft every Wednesday
Even now that we're on the edge of a city (albeit a small one) a fish van parks up at the Farm Shop on Wednesdays and Sundays, however bread deliveries are a long gone happy memory. The mobile library stops at the end of this road ... I usually go to the library in the city centre when I go in on the bus but I must check out the mobile one ... use it or lose it

I love the dog and cat stories.
Our weather is getting warmer gradually.

Does anyone else get a fish van? We get one every Thursday so guess what we are having tonight?
I remember when we used to get the City Bakeries van, a fruit and veg, the library van and a mobile bank. Changed days!!?
