    Morning all.
Misty here too, but supposed to be sunny later so I've put the washing on.

Yes, Obelixx, there is a butter shortage here too. Daughter couldn't find any but they had some of the more expensive sort, from Brittany with Guerlande salt, in our Leclerc so I bought her some. She then forgot to take it yesterday, but we are going to hers for lunch tomorrow.

Carpet lady who didn't come because of a puncture says she'll come today.

I will go to 1st OH's grave in the village cemetery today to tidy it up and leave a pot of yellow chrysanthemums. The French put pots of chrysanths on graves for Toussaint, they don't seem to grow them for garden use. There are loads for sale at the moment, some are huge plants. I think the huge ones on graves look a bit daft.

Hadn't read back enough. Was about to say about Hosta's Hedychiums what Dove then said.

    Have a lovely day, Chicky.

Coolest night here for a good while ... down to 6.4C and only up to 6.7C now.

Our hedgehogs had been absent for three nights on the trot, but must've turned up last night but didn't clear their plate ... only ate about half of their Sheba chicken pouch.

You can actually order the whole kit and caboodle all together, so that it all comes complete with the chickens ... you could order yourself a poultry fait accompli.  image

I'm very particular in what I want; must be else things would be much simpler!

I've been looking at getting a British rare breed called Orpington:

We had 5'C yesterday morning. The garden needs it; far too many things were trying to flower again they'll have no reserve for winter.

Our hedgehogs have been very noticed by their absence of late.

    Morning again one and all.

Clari, I adore Buff Orpingtons, they're divine. I looked after a garden and she had some. They rarely laid an egg but they were soooooooooooooooo beautiful one forgave them.

I'm going to give the heydychiums one last year. They bulk up quickly so they're not great in pots but need a long, hot summer to flower well. We certainly didn't get that this year.

It was 5 days in June where folk walked about moaning  " it's toooooo hot" then spent the next 4 months complaining about the rain. Serves them right. It's all their fault.

Love Buff Orpingtons Clari image  I have a Buff Orpington egg cup image  When I worked for Children's Services (children with severe disabilities team) I was sent to visit a family who didn't have a particularly high opinion of the social work support they'd had in the past and were known for 'being tetchy'.

I was sitting in the kitchen trying to get this mum to engage with me when something through the window caught my eye .............I stopped mid sentence and said, "Buff Orpingtons ........ you have Buff Orpingtons!!!" image  From that moment we got on famously ... I discovered that her way of dealing with the trials of being the mum of a severely disabled child was to breed rare chickens ......... she discovered that I used to have a smallholding where I also had kept rare breeds of chickens (and other rare breed livestock).

We had a connection ... for her Social Services suddenly had a human face and she had someone she could talk to when things went belly up (transport, respite, medication etc)  .

I also have a Cuckoo Maran and a Rhode Island Red egg cups

Clari ... I've just remembered ... The Queen Mother kept Buff Orpingtons ... they were her favourite breed and she was very enthusiastic about them .... apparently.

Most appropriate for 'Lady Clarington' image
